Achievement Unlocked! My first Decolonizing the Music Room is in the books and I'm so glad I came. I served on the Creating Space For Us By Us panel with Celeste R Luna, Dion Flores, and Tina Huynh. I got to meet one of my academic idols Connie McKoy, meet so many people I've admired from afar IRL, and meet so many new friends. Special shout out to my to my good sis Tiffiny Reckley for being by my side through this wonderful journey.
The conversations were rich and engaging, the experience was meaningful, and I had so much fun! I even got play a Native American hand drum 😍
Thank you Brandi Waller-Pace for an AMAZING experience. I'll definitely be back!

For our final day of , I start with a music educator who made a difference in my life, Mr. Ned Lewis. He saw potential in me that I didn't know I had. He's the reason I even went to college (long story for another day).
He's now retired and is not on social media, but is quite deserving of honor nonetheless. The Table Music Education Corp. thanks Ned Lewis for 42 years of faithful service in music education and for believing that all students were capable of 'excellence without excuses'.
