The 5th Annual Building College Success End-of-Year Celebration was truly one for the books. 💚🎓

On May 2nd, 2026 our students, families, staff, partners, and community came together at Sister Dreamer Sculpture Park in Los Angeles to celebrate our graduating seniors, honor their journey, and reflect on what BCS is truly about, COMMUNITY.

From scholarships and certificates of acknowledgment to games, music, food, and connection, the energy was unmatched. We were honored to have support from Councilwoman form District 10 and .hutt , who helped provide TWO STEAM scholarships for our students. We also celebrated seniors who embodied the BCS pillars throughout their journey. 👏🏾

Huge thank you to all of our partners and community organizations who showed up for our students including the , , .ai, , ,vendors, volunteers, and everyone who poured into this event. Special shoutout to for keeping the vibes high all afternoon. 🔥

This year was extra special as we welcomed underclassmen and families into the celebration space while showcasing what Building College Success truly represents: support, opportunity, culture, and celebration.

From waffles & wings to Happy Ice, face painting, games, music, and memories… this was more than an event it was a FUNCTION. 🧇🍗🍧

To everyone who contributed, attended, supported, and believed in our students:
THANK YOU. This is only the beginning. 🚀

April 11th was more than a field trip—it was an experience 🌟

At the , our students engaged in exclusive tours and meaningful conversations that introduced them to careers like archivists and curators—expanding how they think about storytelling, preservation, and the workforce. They left understanding that history isn’t just stored in museums, but also lives within their own families, in photos and memories that matter.

Through Photography and the Black Arts Movement, 1955–1985, they experienced the depth, creativity, and enduring spirit of Black communities in a powerful and personal way.

We’re grateful to the Getty for creating space for our students to learn, reflect, and see themselves within these pathways.

This is what intentional exposure looks like—and why it matters.
