Today’s designation of Castner Range National Monument is of special significance to Latino stakeholders. The El Paso, TX primarily Latino and low-income community has been advocating on its behalf for more than 50 years. Today that work has come full circle.

Special acknowledgement to the Hispanic Access Foundation for including the site in its 2022 Latino Heritage Sites Report, and Maite Marce and Shanna Edberg for their diligence on this effort. To Ruth Hernandez and David Vela of the National Park Foundation for their work on the effort. To the National Parks Conservation Association for their work on this effort over the years, and to GreenLatinos for including the site in their policy platform in 2023.
