We held our annual Secondary Student Club Fair for 6th-12th grade. We had over 30 student-created clubs and affinity groups represented! Student clubs and affinity groups are a big part of student life and help create a close-knit sense of community where everyone can explore new interests, bond over hobbies, and lead among their peers.

In language arts, 5th Grade students put their knowledge of nouns and adjectives to the test with an energetic game of "Noun Headbandz!" After writing original nouns on headbands and thinking critically, players took turns asking yes/no questions packed with descriptive adjectives to guess the mystery word on their heads.

As part of the Visiting Authors Program, multi-Grammy winner Lucky Diaz visited our students on campus today. He read aloud from his book “Paletero Man,” created songs on the spot using student ideas across all grades, and inspired our middle schoolers with powerful talks on art, community, and creation. Thank you, Lucky, for bringing so much music and energy to our school!

In Pre-Calculus, secondary students were using right-triangle trigonometry and basic tools to measure height. Starting with educated guesses, they then applied right-triangle trigonometry to get a more precise estimate. These lessons lead directly into our study of the Law of Sines and Cosines.

Experiential Learning Challenges

Last week, students across all grades were challenged to solve a question. Working in small groups, students had to confront a real-world challenge, testing their creativity, collaboration, communication skills, and resilience, like we as adults confront in our daily lives.

From building houses from sticks that could withstand the wind in Early Ed, to Secondary students agreeing on how to manage a community when a vital resource becomes scarce.

The power of the group being greater than the sum of its parts was on full display as students applied their ingenuity and managed social dynamics to accomplish a goal together!

The first day of school...there was so much joy and enthusiasm on campus today!

Everyone getting to see each other again, community activities, settling into classrooms, and getting to know new neighbors - what a great start to the school year.

We can't wait to see what the new year will bring!
