Defining Culture
In my earlier post I showed a very broad concept of Culture.
Here is the definition of Culture
1. the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively.
Like: the arts, the humanities, intellectual achievement and activity, literature, music, painting, philosophy
2. a refined understanding or appreciation of culture.
Like: education, cultivation, enlightenment, discernment, discrimination, good taste, refinement, polish, sophistication, urbanity, erudition, learning, essays, writings,
3. the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group.
Like: civilization, society, way of life, lifestyle, customs, traditions, heritage, heritage, habits, ways, mores, values
Origin: Latin culturare, both based on Latin colere ‘tend, cultivate’ (see cultivate). In late Middle English the sense was ‘cultivation of the soil’ and from this (early 16th century), arose ‘cultivation (of the mind, faculties, or manners’); culture (sense 1 of the noun) dates from the early 19th century.

Cultivate
1. prepare and use (land) for crops or gardening.
1b. break up (soil) in preparation for sowing or planting.
1c. raise or grow (plants), especially on a large scale for commercial purposes.
1d. grow or maintain (living cells or tissue) in culture.
2. try to acquire or develop (a quality, sentiment, or skill).
Like: try to acquire, pursue, court, try to develop, work hard at, foster, nurture, encourage
2b. try to win the friendship or favor of (someone).
Like: seek the friendship of, seek the favor of, try to win over, woo, court, pay court to, rub up the right way, run after, make advances to, make up to, keep sweet, ingratiate oneself with, curry favor with, associate with, mix with, keep company with, get in someone's good books, butter up, suck up to, brown-nose, shine up to
Opposite: ignore
2c. apply oneself to improving or developing (one's mind or manners).
Like: improve, better, refine, elevate, polish, educate, train, develop, enlighten, enrich, civilize, culture
Origin: Latin cultivat- ‘prepared for crops’, from the verb cultivare, from cultiva (terra) ‘arable (land)’, from colere ‘cultivate, inhabit’.
I guess I wanted to show how culture has influenced and changed almost everything that is created in any type of civilization.

About The Group: Culture Future
Have you noticed that people have their own priorities in life, I mean in certain subjects in life?
1. For some their own personality and personal affairs are the highest priority, like being famous as a person.
2. For others their family is their highest priority, like creating and supporting a family. Be a great dad or mom.
3. Others are the hardcore entrepreneurial type, for them it’s all about business and prosperity.
4. Then we have the ones who get very concerned about humanity in general. They dedicate their lives to contribute to have better cultures and civilizations, like good contributing people in the fields of: Food or Farming, Education, Housing Development, Clothing and Fashions, Health Care, Transportation, Communication ways and means and, including Languages, Art forms and Entertainment, Social organization or Government and Law, Economy and Financial organization, Customs with Moral and Ethics Values either in Philosophy or Religion.
What area do you feel you belong to?
Well, I belong to this last area of life #4, since I was kid I have been fascinated with culture and the future of our cultures.
I was born in the mid 50’s, so In my youth I used to look with great expectation at the arrival of the year 2000!
Imagining this world would then have very advanced cultures and civilizations with amazing breakthroughs in sciences and high technology.
I wonder what area your own view on our cultures and civilizations is. Were you born before the year 2000 or after?
