Brudda's founding is one of perseverance, disability, and the desire for accessibility. Having been diagnosed at a young age with cerebral palsy, attending school in the traditional sense has always been a challenge for me. As I got older, those challenges only compounded, making it difficult to do anything from making it from class to class to eating my lunch with friends. Throughout my academic

journey, I had the opportunity to attend your traditional public school, charter school, private and homeschool, all to find a home for learning that worked for my body and my mind. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, while I had made it safely to college, I watched as so many others who were like me when I was younger fell through the cracks. I watched young children, including my sister, struggle with their multiplication, addition, and grammar, and I knew I had to do something. I volunteered to help homeschool my younger sister. I saw the demand from other independent learning families like us. I saw the need for more supplemental curricula and support available outside the school system on an affordable and accessible basis. We needed something that we could access at anytime from anywhere based on our busy schedule and the hectic way of the world. So, I started Brudda. Brudda is a dynamic, online tutoring program that offers on-demand options using engaging and interactive tools that bring unlimited tutoring capabilities to as many students as possible while keeping them engaged and inspiring a love of learning. Our company will be successful because it was born out of perseverance, experience, and, ultimately, the understanding of what it means to find a home in the classroom.

This fall, we've seen access to educational resources and funds expand dramatically! First in Arizona and this month in West Virginia, state governments have created scholarship programs that allow homeschool families to use their tax dollars for their children's education. This means families can use these scholarships to pay for tutoring, curriculum, and extracurricular activities that boost their learning opportunities, regardless of income!

More, families can use these funds to help pay for tuition at satellite, secular, and religious private schools. Programs like these are being popularized around the country, so be sure to check your state's laws to see if you are eligible for any financial assistance in your homeschool.

Why did your family start homeschooling? Was it COVID-19, freedom, or flexibility? For Vallencia Frazier, a science teacher from North Carolina, homeschooling helped her son, who suffers from learning challenges, to achieve in the classroom. Like many families, Frazier said the decision to homeschool was out of her son's need for individualization, rather than a simple choice.
