Samsung Samsung US how is it possible to not have a better system with all your resources? Really feels like a trap to bully people into purchasing a new appliance instead of honoring the warranty. Very scammy. I bet if I said I wanted to purchase a new $2000 fridge you’d be able to deliver by tomorrow. My favorite part was when 2 reps asked if I wanted a 10% discount off my next Samsung appliance.

Self-defense should prepare you for resistance—not cooperation.

One of the biggest problems I see in self-defense training is techniques being taught in perfectly controlled environments, with a compliant partner.

But real attacks are unpredictable.

Your attacker may be stronger. They may resist. You may be scared, exhausted, injured, or caught completely off guard.

That’s why effective self-defense training should be simple, pressure-tested, and realistic under stress.

Teaching self-defense is a responsibility.

Train for what actually happens—not what you wish would happen.

It's usually not a stranger...

If someone has done this to you once, please treat it as the warning it is. Not proof you did something wrong. A warning about them.

Size is not the variable you think it is.

Grabbing their hands feels right. It is completely wrong.

Run the math on that exchange. You are using two hands at full extension against arms that are locked into a torso and driving with bodyweight behind them. It is the weakest possible version of you against the strongest possible version of them.

There is a second cost that is worse than the first. While your hands are up there pulling, they are not doing anything useful, and your feet and hips are not doing anything at all. You have committed your entire body to the one action least likely to work, at the exact moment your air supply is finite.

Everything that actually works starts by giving your hands a different job and letting your structure, not your grip strength, do the work.

Full course available. 10 lessons. 10 days. Arming yourself with knowledge that can be invaluable.

The argument was the warning.

These situations rarely arrive out of nowhere. There is usually a ramp: voice rising, distance shrinking, questions that are not really questions, a door closing, a phone taken. Each step is small enough to explain away, and explaining it away is exactly what most people do.

The most important decision point is not the moment hands go up. It is several minutes earlier, when leaving still feels dramatic and unnecessary. That is the window, and it is the one people talk themselves out of.

If you are reading this and recognizing a pattern in your own home rather than in a parking lot, that is worth taking seriously. Hands on a neck is not one bad night.

Research on domestic violence has consistently found it to be one of the strongest warning signs of what comes later.
