A Knowable Magazine piece this week landed on something I’ve been saying for years: the comfort in comfort food is mostly in your head — and that’s actually really good news.

It means we have more agency than we think. It also means we don’t have to wage war on the foods that carry our memories. We just need a wider toolkit.

Swipe through 👉 and if this resonates, WMN v3 just dropped. Built for exactly this kind of work.

The more we learn about the gut microbiome, the more complex we become. Once thought only to regulate our GI function, we are now learning it influences our dopamine, interoception and reward circuits that are central to eating disorders.

Swipe to see what the latest science shows - that could profoundly change treatment moving forward.

When you think of you your favorite foods, what are they?

So many of our choices have been unconsciously influenced by outside forces. We see this in the food industry all the time. The foods we “like” and “crave” have been designed to be that way.

But we can rewire our brains to crave and like foods that are more nourishing to our bodies and soul.

Share if you’ve experienced this!

Is tea healthy? It depends on the tea.

Many large brand-name tea bags have been linked to higher microplastics and pesticides, while smaller tea shops often offer cleaner, higher-quality leaves.

Our take: skip the grocery store tea bags and buy loose-leaf from small producers when you can.

Trauma work can come in many forms.

Have you heard the expressions - “The body keeps the score”, “The issues are in the tissues”?

Fascia is the missing link. Dig deep with self-myofascial release work and see what unlocks. Process it, and keep going.

Some say food is fuel, we say food is medicine.

Food is one of the most powerful tools we interact with every day.

It can calm inflammation, support gut and brain health, stabilize blood sugar, and shape how we feel in our bodies.

When we start using food intentionally, it becomes medicine.

Magnesium plays a role in hundreds of critical functions in the body—but many of us are deficient without realizing it.

Stress alone can drain your magnesium levels, even if you eat well.
Ever notice feeling calmer or sleeping better after taking magnesium? That’s not a coincidence.

Try it before bed and see how you feel.
Sometimes the smallest change has the biggest impact on mental health.

I recently joined The Good Clean Nutrition Podcast with Dr. Ginger Hultin for a conversation on how trauma, stress, and mental health shape our relationship with food. We explored why eating behaviors aren’t just about willpower, and how understanding someone’s history can change the way we approach nutrition, healing, and care. If you’re interested in the intersection of mental health, nutrition science, and compassion-based care, this episode may resonate.

It’s 2026 - AI is everywhere, and we keep hearing it will replace more jobs. What about for the nutritionist?

Honestly, AI can replace some parts of the dietitians role. AI is incredibly efficient in calculations, analyzing macronutrient and micronutrient components, and even generating calorie driven meal plans. If the main parts of the nutritionists job is math-centric, then that job stands to be at risk of being replaced.

What about the other roles? The coaching, psychological counseling, the emotional and physical hand-holding in learning new skills and habits? We think those can’t be touched by AI.

Those are the skills that make a nutritionist invaluable to a client looking to make a change.

What do you think?

The brain and the mind are separate—and the way they talk to each other shapes our habits.

Our brain sends physical signals. Our mind creates the narrative around them.

Want to see this in action? Quit something abruptly—caffeine, sugar, ni****ne, UPFs—and write down the thoughts that show up.

What story does your mind tell you?
