"Nothing finer" than my 49er education. Many students tell me "I just don't want to go to a Cal State School" without weighing the benefits of a Cal State education. As a successful, proud CSULB alumna, I always encourage California students to apply to at least one school in the CSU system. I'm really excited about the changes underway in California and the new legislation for admission into CSUs, which is set to begin in 2026.
CSULB is one of 45 colleges and universities nationwide that have earned the Seal of Excelencia! The certification reinforces the university's commitment to Latine success. During September and October, The Beach will recognize and celebrate Latine Heritage Month.

Many teachers are worried about AI in the classroom—some are even banning it altogether. I get it. Change can feel big. But our students are growing up in a world where AI is part of everyday life, and our job is to help them use it well.
The more we, as parents and educators, explore and understand AI ourselves, the better we can guide kids in using it thoughtfully. If we teach to the times—expecting AI and using it to inspire higher-level thinking—we can create classrooms that are more curious, creative, and connected than ever.
