Meet Victoria Pinkett! She is a sophomore studying mechanical engineering.

She is heavily involved in USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering, with multiple leadership positions. She is also the Region VI Chair for the National Society of Black Engineers.

Victoria stresses the importance of time management in college. It’s possible to manage your classes and get involved with clubs you’re interested in, as long as you plan for it!

Meet Emily Baik! She is a freshman majoring in Public Relations. She is a new member of Delta Phi Epsilon, a student research worker at the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, and a member of The Women’s Leadership Society.

Why USC:
“When applying to college, I tried to focus on schools that I believed would offer me the best education possible. USC is the best school in the nation for Public Relations—and so many other topics of interest! And on top of that, here, we have the chance to learn from the best professors, live in the heart of Los Angeles, meet great people, and follow our passions!!”

Thank you Emily for participating in our feature!

There are a lot of factors to weigh when compiling a list of colleges to apply to. 📝 While certainly not the top priority, considering how likely you will be accepted to a school matters. Most students apply to a mix of safety, match and reach schools. Keep in mind you should still be able to realistically envision yourself at each school on your list!

Meet Ana! 💙Ana Sanson is a freshman from Panama City, Panama. She is double majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computational Neuroscience. Ana decided to study both majors because she is interested in pursuing research involving the application of Electrical Engineering to the human body as a career, and hopefully becoming a Professor or Principal Investigator one day.

Why USC?
“I knew I was going to find an inclusive and cooperative community that would help me become an engineer with the ability to work for the common good in our constantly-changing society.”

What have you learned at college?
“I learned that surrounding yourself with people who appreciate you for who you are will allow you to grow as a person and make the most out of college. Having a group of friends that are your family away from home will bring you comfort and help you navigate tough situations.”
