We are a community of parents and educators committed to providing an enriching preschool environment for children that fosters imagination and individuality.

LAPP began in 1954 when a group of mothers formed a high quality co-operative preschool to serve the growing community. The parents wished to share responsibility for the administration, maintenance, and working program of the school. They formed LAPP as a non-profit corporation to furnish housing, equipment, supplies, and part of the Teacher/Directors' salaries. The Mountain View-Los Altos Union

Thank you to everyone who turned out yesterday to celebrate 65 years of LAPP! It was so wonderful to see you all and to marvel at the growth of all those amazing (tall!) young people!

On a personal note, huge thanks to Lara Sandora, Shana Ernst, Mari Vargas, Holly Khazam, Diana Carter, Lillian Stadler, Shanon Pestrong, Kathleen Feigelman, Rohini Sabikhi, Ana Agan, Maria Bautista, and Dara Tynefield for the generous gift! I would love to thank you all individually but don't have contact information for everyone. I will indeed love planting fruit trees on the farm in honor of my LAPP roots. Love, love, love, Teacher Kerry

About the artist:
Mansi is a self-taught artist and Los Altos resident. She has had her art exhibited at the Los Altos Library, Rick’s Cafe, Urfa Bistro, Red Berry Coffee Bar, Hillview Community Center, The Original Pancake House and the Lexus Showroom among others. She has led workshops for seniors as well as preschoolers. No matter the audience, her goal is to focus on free-spirited creations. She wants her students to feel the rush that comes from experimenting with different media, using colors as a way to express themselves, crafting with their hearts and hands...really tuning into their gut. Because when they listen to their intuition, they create art that connects with the soul.

LAPP Annual Fundraising Auction 05/02/2019

As some of you have heard by now, we have news regarding the future of Los Altos Parent Preschool. Unfortunate as it is, we will not be able to continue offering classes into the 2019-20 school year.

At the beginning of this school year the Board and Staff became aware that the school was in trouble. With this knowledge we worked very hard to come up with a plan for a new program. We extensively studied other schools in the area to learn what kinds of programs they offered and what seemed popular to families. We also surveyed our own membership to see what areas we could potentially improve upon in our own offerings, and we consulted with other professionals in the field of cooperative preschools for ideas and guidance. We created and marketed an all-new LAPP program structure for our Open House, and we had a wonderful turn out. Truly, we hoped that we had turned things around. But the enrollment numbers never materialized. We did not receive as many applications as we had hoped and the number of people who accepted their spots and registered for next year was even smaller. In the end, we did not make the enrollment numbers needed to run the school for another year. All of these efforts have simply been unable to keep up with the challenges the school has faced for the last 8 or so years.

We are beyond sad to have to say that we will not be opening our doors in the fall. Our lease is up this summer, and we will not be renewing it. Los Altos Parent Preschool is going to be closing at the end of the current school year in June.

Please come help us celebrate the school and its enduring legacy at our Silent Auction & Ice Cream Social on May 11, 2019 from 2 - 4 pm at the school on Covington Road. We will have an ice cream sundae bar, games for the kids, and some fun items to bid on. Any funds raised during this event (and during our current online auction) will contribute to retirement funds for our teachers.

Thank you for 65 wonderful years.
