Look what we got in the store! The fancy new glow up version of the 5300 model oooooohhhh she’s so cute! 🥰 This is the big sister and then some for the 3160 and 2030 models we use in class but with this one you can also sew letters! Here’s some more details: The 5300QDC has 300 beautiful stitches, including 6 one-step buttonholes PLUS alphabet stitches. You’ll also experience Janome’s Exclusive Superior Plus Feed System ensuring even, stable feeding with any fabric. The 5300QDC is the only model in the QDC line to have advanced features like the Superior Needle Threader with Thread Guide, Knee Lifter, and the Optic Magnifier Set (20x, 40x, 60x). In addition, it comes standard with the Quilting Attachment Kit, an extension table, and a hardcover carrying case.

In this 4-week session, you’ll meet for 4 two-hour classes to learn sewing fundamentals, gain confidence using a sewing machine, and complete beginner-friendly projects.

Fabrics are included, so you can focus on learning and having fun.

Sallie Tomato Laptop Bag Workshop this Saturday and Sunday 9/26 & 27. A few spots open sign up on our website! I finished my sample and may have to keep this one for myself or make one more! The new Janome HD8 sewed the last bit like a dream - had to attach binding through layers of foam, faux leather and fabrics. We will have 2 of these machines out for our workshop and sewing will be a breeze! 😊 Camilla

We had a lot of fun this past Sunday at our all day learn how to sew class! In one day we learned how to use a sewing machine and sewed 4 full projects! If you can’t do a full day workshop you can sign up for our 4 week session - you sign up for the day of the week that works for you and for 4 weeks you show up the same day and time. At the end of the 4 weeks (one 2 hour class per week) you will have also learned how to sew and will have completed 4 projects! Along the way you will learn tips and tricks to help you for all your future sewing projects. All of our classes are taught by fashion industry professionals so you know you will learn all the proper techniques. Our classes are also super fun and relaxed! We start our new session week of September 28th. (Current students: check your email for links to intermediate and next level classes!)

Have a serger but have not taken it out of the box? Afraid to use it in case the threads come out or that you will break it?

Not to worry! We will teach you the basics of your serger so that you can be confident in using it at home.

We will cover:
-the mechanics of the machine and how to use it safely
-how to change threads without having to re-thread the machine
-how to thread your machine
-troubleshooting tension
-how to serge wovens and knits

What a day! 💕 Our ‘Sharpen your Scissors and Skills’ event this Saturday 9/5 was a blast! Thank you to all who stopped by to shop, have their scissors sharpened and attended our two workshops. We will definitely do more of these!

We’re kicking off National Sewing Month of September with a bang! We are hosting a “Sharpen Your Scissors and Skills” event! 🥳🤩

The day starts off with scissor sharpening between 10am-12pm by Mr. Sharpe of Long Beach. They will park their van in our lot, and you can have your scissors sharpened while you shop. Josie, the owner of LA Finch Fabrics has brought in a lot of amazing fabrics perfect for your Fall sewing 🧵

From 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Joan, our instructor, will host a mini seminar on how to take good measurements, how to pick a pattern size, and what type of fabrics to pick for your project to create the vision you’re looking for. 👗 👖 👕

At 1 p.m., Camilla the owner, will go over how to clean and maintain your machine so you can keep it running for years to come. Bring your (working) machine for this one!
