St. Hedwig School

Today, our faculty and staff became CPR and AED certified!
At SHS, the safety of our students and school community is always a top priority.

We currently have two AEDs readily available on campus, and as we continue to strengthen our emergency preparedness, we would love to add additional AEDs throughout campus to ensure one is always within quick reach when every second matters.

If you or your business would be interested in donating an AED, contributing toward the purchase of one, or connecting us with an organization or company that may be able to help, we would be incredibly grateful.

Together, we can continue making SHS as safe and prepared as possible for our students, faculty, staff, and community.

Welcome to St. Hedwig, Mrs. Naranjo!

We are so excited to welcome Cynthia Naranjo to the St. Hedwig Catholic School family as our new third grade teacher!

Mrs. Naranjo brings 10 years of elementary teaching experience in both Catholic schools and the Long Beach Unified School District, teaching students from Kindergarten through fifth grade. She is especially excited to return to third grade—a grade level that holds a special place in her heart!

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from San José State University, her Master of Arts in Teaching from Santa Clara University, and her California Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential through Mount Saint Mary’s University.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Naranjo enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring Orange County, relaxing at the beach, trying new restaurants, and cheering on Notre Dame and the San Francisco 49ers.

We are so happy to have Mrs. Naranjo joining our Celtic community and look forward to a wonderful year of faith, learning, growth, and partnership with our students and families.

As they prepare to graduate, our 8th graders spent the day giving back … serving others with joyful hearts at Double R Ranch. Through hard work, kindness, and encouragement, they lived out what it means to serve with compassion.

The Double R Ranch is run by the Orange County Rescue Mission. A working ranch and rehabilitative housing community for those experiencing homelessness, the ranch provides healing, purpose, and hope.

Our 8th graders spent the day clearing brush and helping with fire prevention on the hillsides surrounding the ranch, made cards of encouragement for residents to accompany the blessing bags we brought, and finished with a picnic lunch together.

It was a meaningful day of service, fellowship, and gratitude — a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big impact.

Way to go, Celtics!

For our final Celtic of the Month celebration, teachers had the special opportunity to choose whichever category best reflected their selected student’s strengths and character. Students were recognized for demonstrating the qualities of a healthy person, respectful and responsible citizen, confident learner, or Catholic believer. Some outstanding students were even chosen because they consistently represented all four categories through their actions, attitudes, and leadership each and every day.

We are so proud of the hard work, kindness, faith, and positive example these students bring to our school community. Congratulations to all of our Celtics of the Month — keep shining and leading the way!
