Alcorn State University alumni continue to make their mark through service and leadership that impacts our nation and world. This Black History Month, we honor those who embody the Always Alcorn spirit through their commitment and achievements.
Lt. Col. Alicia E. King, a Liberty, Miss., native, is a 2006 graduate of Alcorn State University, where she earned her commission as a Military Intelligence Officer. She also holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship from American Military University.
Lt. Col. King's military career spans multiple combat deployments and leadership roles across the globe. She deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2008 to 2009 and to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2010 to 2011, where she assumed command of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Special Troops Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade.
Her assignments have taken her from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to the Republic of Korea, Germany, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. She currently serves as an adjudicator for the U.S. Physical Disability Agency under Human Resources Command.
Her awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters and the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters.
