Gifted & Talented Screening Notification

Parent Referrals Now Open for Grades 3–5

We are now accepting parent referrals for Gifted and Talented (GT) screening using the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test).

Parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who would like their child to be considered for GT screening should click the link below and complete the referral form by September 11, 2026.

Important Information:

*2nd Grade: HCS will test all 2nd graders, so parent referrals are not necessary. Second graders will take both the CogAT and Iowa Test.

*3rd–5th Grade: A parent referral is required for students to be screened using the CogAT.

Please complete the form by September 11, 2026 if you would like your child to be considered for GT screening.

🦁💙💛 A GREAT FIRST DAY AT LORIS ELEMENTARY! 💛💙🦁
What an amazing way to kick off the 2026–2027 school year at Loris Elementary! Our Little Lions filled the building with smiles, excitement, and lots of positive energy as they settled into their classrooms and began a brand-new year of learning! 📚✨
Today was all about building relationships, learning routines and expectations, reconnecting with friends, meeting new faces, and creating classrooms where every student feels welcomed, supported, and ready to grow. From arrival to dismissal, our students and staff worked together to make our first day a success!
We are especially proud of the patience, grace, encouragement, and love shown throughout our building today. The first day is filled with new experiences, and our Little Lions did a wonderful job! 🦁❤️
A special THANK YOU to our teachers, staff, families, and community for helping us start the year strong. We are excited about all that is ahead and can't wait to watch our students learn, grow, and shine this year!
