❤️🐺 Saint Francis Nursing hit the ground running today for R.E.D. Day!

Our nursing students and faculty spent the afternoon giving back at St. Michael School, painting walls, hauling rocks, and putting in some serious work! 💪🎨🪨

But apparently…you can take nursing students out of the classroom, but you can’t take them away from their studies! 😂📚💊

With every stroke of the paintbrush, they were reviewing **pharmacology**—because why just paint a wall when you can study meds at the same time?! 🎨💊🧠

A great afternoon of service, teamwork, a little hard work, and—of course—nursing! ❤️

Proud to see our students living out the Franciscan spirit of service while still finding a way to squeeze in some studying!

Special shout out to Dr. Gregg, Mrs. Komar, Mrs. Mearns, Olivia, Nina, Isabella, Jordan, Mackenzie, Alex, Annie, and Sophia!

This group of juniors just wrapped up their med-surg clinical rotation alongside a familiar face, Trevor, a senior nursing student and employee at UPMC.

From seeing each other in the halls to working side-by-side in the clinical setting, it’s always special to see our students supporting and learning from one another!

We are proud to recognize Jessica Redos, a senior-level nursing student who was named as the 2026 recipient of the Kristin Runyon Memorial Scholarship ❤️🖤

Jessica’s pursuit of a public health degree alongside her nursing degree reflects her passion for breaking down barriers and improving access to care for all.

“I hope to combine my clinical knowledge with a public health perspective to not only care for patients on a personal level, but also strive to promote health equity, education, and access to care in Franklin County and surrounding areas.”

Jessica’s dedication to nursing, public health, and health equity is a wonderful example of the impact future nurses can make both at the bedside and within their communities.

Congratulations, Jess! We are excited to see all the ways you will make a difference in the lives of others 🩺❤️🖤

Community health nursing extends far beyond the walls of a hospital 🩺🌎

As part of their Community Health Nursing course, our senior-level nursing students had the opportunity to hear from the Chief Deputy Coroner of Cambria County.

The presentation provided students with a unique look at the role of the coroner, the investigation of deaths within the community, and the importance of collaboration among healthcare professionals and community agencies.

Grateful for community collaborations and experiences like this which help our students broaden their understanding of community health and recognize the many ways nurses play a role in supporting individuals, families, and communities—even beyond traditional healthcare settings ❤️🖤

Supporting our students in the classroom AND on the field!

At Saint Francis Nursing, our faculty are invested in our students far beyond the classroom. Dr. Gregg recently took the field for a faculty and staff scrimmage alongside junior nursing student and Field Hockey player Hannah C! 🩺🏑

Whether it’s helping students develop their clinical skills, cheering them on from the sidelines, or even picking up a field hockey stick ourselves, we love supporting our students in everything they do.

At SFU Nursing, we don’t just teach our students—we show up for them. ❤️🤍

Critical care clinicals are coming to a close for this group of senior-level nursing students as they wrap up this rotation and get ready to take on their next clinical experience 🩺✨

A special shoutout to Ms. James and Ms. Mearns for sharing their expertise, knowledge, and passion for nursing with our students throughout their critical care experience. Your guidance and mentorship help prepare the next generation of nurses for whatever comes next❤️🖤

Way to go, seniors — you’re one rotation closer to becoming RNs! 👏👏

Some of our Junior-level nursing students had the opportunity to get an up-close look at the LifeFlight helicopter and learn more about the role of flight nursing from the staff who make these critical transports possible. 🚁

A special thank you Brian for taking the time to welcome our students, share his expertise, and give them an inside look at the helicopter! Also thank you to IRMC for hosting us and our students! 💚🤍

What makes senior-level critical care clinicals even better??? 🩺✨

Getting to learn from someone who’s been EXACTLY where you are 🙌🏽

There’s something pretty special about our students learning from the nurses who once sat in those same classrooms, walked those same halls, and dreamed about becoming nurses themselves ❤️🖤

Our alumni are truly the BEST—and we love seeing them give back by sharing their knowledge, experience, and passion with the next generation of future nurses👏🏽
