When It Needs Doing WIND is a non-profit organization working in the highlands of Guatemala.

We are currently training rural pastors and working with a Christian primary school, Colegio Horeb in Cotzal Guatemala.

From October 9 through 19, the WIND dental team will provide much needed care to families in the Ixil region of Guatemala. We are looking for dental professionals as well as people simply willing to serve as an extra set of hands.

You do not need dental experience to make a difference. Through compassionate care and a willingness to serve, this team will have the opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ in a practical and powerful way.

We wanted to share this special moment from the Westminster Team’s time in Cotzal.

During the Bible Month Parade, team member Nelson Reed shared a message with the children about God’s love and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. He ended by praying for them and their salvation.

Please join us in praying that the seeds planted that day will remain in their hearts and bear fruit for years to come.

When we look at the growth of Colegio Horeb and the lives being changed throughout San Juan Cotzal, we are reminded of God’s goodness and faithfulness through the years.

During their week in Guatemala, the Westminster Chapel team spent time with students and families, installed stoves, encouraged pastors and church leaders, and joined the community for the annual Bible Month celebration.

More than the work accomplished, this week was about relationships, shared faith, encouragement, and serving together.

Thank you to every member of the Westminster team for giving your time, energy, and heart to serve. We are grateful for your continued partnership and for all God is doing through it.

The Westminster Chapel team has completed a wonderful week of service in San Juan Cotzal!

Throughout the week, they served alongside the community through school activities, pastor training, family visits, and stove installations. They ended their time in Cotzal by joining Colegio Horeb’s annual Bible Month celebration!

Beyond everything accomplished, we are especially grateful for the relationships strengthened and the many moments of faith, encouragement, and joy shared along the way.

Thank you to every team member who gave their time, energy, and heart to serve. Please pray for them as they begin their journey home, and stay tuned next week as we share much more from their incredible time in San Juan Cotzal!

Many families in rural Guatemala still cook over open fires inside their homes, filling their kitchens with smoke and requiring large amounts of firewood.

ONIL stoves, developed by HELPS International, vent smoke outside and use up to 70 percent less firewood. This creates a healthier and safer cooking environment while saving families time and money and reducing pressure on Guatemala’s forests.

This week, the Westminster Chapel team is putting that impact into action by installing 4 ONIL stoves in homes throughout the community. Each installation makes a lasting difference in the daily life of an entire family.

The Westminster Chapel team has already completed their first day serving in Cotzal!

This combined youth and pastor training team will serve at Colegio Horeb, equip and encourage local pastors, visit families, and install stoves in homes throughout the community.

Today is departure day!

The Westminster Chapel team is leaving for Guatemala. During their time in San Juan Cotzal, this combined youth and pastor training team will install stoves in family homes, provide a training workshop for local pastors, and participate in a parade celebrating the Month of the Bible.

Please pray for their time in Cotzal. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide them as they carry out the work God has called them to do.

Pray that the new stoves will bless the families who receive them, that the workshop will encourage and equip local church leaders, and that the parade will point students and the broader community toward God’s Word.

Básico (middle school) students at Colegio Horeb recently had the opportunity to become the teachers.

They prepared interactive presentations about Guatemala’s Constitution, including the rights and responsibilities of children, teachers, and other members of the community.

Students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade visited the different displays, participated in the activities, and learned from the older students. The judge of San Juan Cotzal and another representative from the local court also took part.

Experiences like this help students build confidence, share what they have learned, and better understand their rights and responsibilities within their community.

One week from today, a mission team from Westminster Chapel will begin serving in San Juan Cotzal!

This combined youth and pastor training team will serve alongside WIND in several ways. Team members will install stoves in family homes, provide a training workshop for local pastors, and participate with Colegio Horeb in a parade celebrating the Month of the Bible.

Please pray for the team as they complete their final preparations. Ask God to give them safe travel, good health, wisdom, and hearts ready to serve and learn alongside the people of Cotzal.
