⛈️🌞There's always sunshine just beyond the clouds! I've lived by that motto since my college years.
Five minutes into the storm that brought Osage County-105 MPH winds, I was nervous that all of our hard work had all but blown away, but by the grace of God the mum patch was still there.
In this business, you can be wiped out in no
time-whether it be a pest, weather, or disease. That’s why proactive care is essential-however that’s not always a possibility due to pop up storms. Anyone in this business is dealing with a living organism that is completely dependent on weather, some would call us irrational to put our livelihoods on the line with such a gamble, but some would say God gave us a ability to make the world a more beautiful place and at NK we team on working with Nature-not against it, by always trying to use the least amount of effect on the environment in all decisions. That has been the backbone of the business since day one.
I took this photo working in nature’s gorgeous Sunday sunrise and thought to myself "Wow! I am blessed that my mum patch is still here!" While some would think how unlucky they are that there was some clean up to do, I praised God for his blessing that our hard work was still there while looking at the glass half full and remembering that trials bring to light a fresh perspective.
This is the second time a major wind storm has hit my mum patch with straight lines winds that brought trees to their knees next to it since I started the business six years ago, but the mum patch has come out relatively unscathed both times. Luckily, we will be OPEN for fall. The shelves at the nursery took a hit, but thankful again for the timing of this as the shelves were relatively empty as preparation for fall was still underway. The greenhouses were luckily undamaged!
Thanking God for his many blessings on this day, keeping a positive attitude while completing cleanup, praying for anyone that needs prayers due to this storm, and loving the cool down while continuing fall planting.
