"My word to those leaving the home nest or direction in life…
so, to the young adults stepping into work or college, into this new season of change—

What I wish my dad had said to me:
Enjoy this season.
Take real advantage of the time you have to study.
Go to the guest lectures in the evenings.
Study something you are truly interested in.

Walk. Fly-fish. Fish. Swim. Breathe.
Relish what seems like ordinary moments.
Give yourself at least thirty quiet minutes every day—do it.
Turn the phone off.
Breathe…so get plenty of pure breathing time.
Do the physical things you loved as a child.

And be sure to attend a weekly church service.
Volunteer there as well.
Most of all, as you go—sit/pause, talk with people, and lace your mind with prayer and gratitude.
When you study, do it outside whenever you can: in a park, beside water, or yes—in the library.
Don’t lock yourself away in your room under artificial light.
In the daytime, stay near windows. Let the light find you and envelope you."

Darkness never has the final word.

On Easter morning, we are reminded that “the light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it” (John 1:5).

There are seasons in life that feel like wandering through a cave—uncertain, heavy, and overwhelming. But the resurrection of Jesus declares that light is not gone; it is breaking through.

The empty tomb is God’s answer to the darkness of our world: death is defeated, hope is alive, and new life has begun.

Whatever darkness you may be facing today, remember—light has dawned.

Christ is risen. He is risen indeed.
