Children self sooth in ways which can make us uncomfortable.
For example, a child who beats their head on a wall. Obviously it isn't safe for a child to self sooth in a way they may be harmed.
We must figure out why they need to be soothed and what outlet the behavior provides. Perhaps the room is too noisy, and the child is hitting their head to calm the stimulus they do not want.
Understand and normalize self soothing behaviors.

Music is the best transition !
Instead of saying "time to clean up" my students learned when they heard crazy frogs it was time to put things away.πΈ
Transition for every change came with:
1. A verbal or auditory warning (sounding a bell) for 5 minutes
2.A visual warning with a red card for 2 minute warning
3. A song to indicate the beginning of a transition or activity
Giving ample warning helps prevent meltdowns. The transition songs set the tone for the transition. Fast songs for cleaning and slower songs to transition for lining up.
Make transition part of your routine and watch unwanted behaviors decline.
