Just a reminder that there is an informational meeting scheduled this evening for parents who are interested in nominating their student for the gifted and talented services here in Pine Tree ISD. The meeting will be held at the community center, and it starts at 5:30 PM. The meeting will only last about 20 to 30 minutes. I will be sharing information about the nomination process as well as the selection process for the gifted services we offer.

First grade wrapped up their Perch-a-Palooza challenge today! Each group successfully designed and built a perch that could safely hold their bird while giving it the highest possible view of the classroom.
This challenge was filled with productive struggle! Students worked through the engineering process by building, testing, improving, and then testing again.
There was plenty of “That didn’t work…yet!” as students figured out how to make their structures stronger, taller, and more stable.
The final goal? A perch that could stand on its own, safely hold the bird, and give it a view around the entire classroom. And they did it! 💙
We are so proud of our first grade engineers for embracing the struggle, collaborating with their teams, and thinking like real engineers! 💡🐦

Today, our second graders put their boat designs to the test! Their boats faced a pumpkin test, duck test, severe wind, rain, and even rough seas!
Not every boat made it to the very end—and that’s okay! Each challenge gave our students an opportunity to reflect, problem-solve, and learn from what didn’t work.
The biggest lesson? We don’t learn just from our successes. We learn from our struggles, our mistakes, and how we choose to respond when things don’t go as planned.
Way to keep designing, testing, adjusting, and trying again, second grade!
