Spring Hill ISD raising funds for weekend, holiday meal program for students - Longview News-Journal 11/23/2025

One in four children in East Texas struggles with food insecurity. Spring Hill's Backpack Program addresses this critical need by discreetly providing weekend meals to these students and their siblings at just $3.55 per bag, ensuring that no child goes hungry when school is out of session.

This program operates entirely through fundraisers and the generosity of donors, with no tax payer, school, or government funding. Each week, our life skills classroom students prepare and deliver these backpacks, making this initiative a true example of our community caring for its own.

This holiday season, consider donating or sponsoring a child for a year (approx $140) in honor of a friend or family member. Your gift provides more than food—it offers dignity, hope, and the foundation children need to succeed in school and life.

Recently SHAC provided a grant for the nursing department to purchase game changing SugarPixel units!

SugarPixel is a secondary glucose display and alert system allowing Spring Hill district nursing staff to follow student’s continuous glucose monitors. It is the world's first dedicated CGM hardware monitor with random tone generation audio alerts, vibration alerts for the hearing impaired, customizable display options, and native multi-user tracking! This will allow for quicker interventions and healthy successful students for years to come!

The SHAC annual staff summer work out challenge was a success! 1/3 of the district staff participated in completing at least 30 minutes of exercise 3-5x each week this summer. Being physically active is an important part of health and wellness. Giving away great prizes worth thousands of dollars is also a bonus 💪💙🤍🐾 Students summer BINGO cards are due to their campus by September 1!
