Texas Independent Baptist Seminary and Schools is honored to recognize Pastor Jon Shook on his 31st anniversary as pastor of Bailey’s Grove Baptist Church in Asheboro, North Carolina. This Sunday marks thirty-one years since Pastor Shook answered the call to become pastor of Bailey’s Grove Baptist Church in October of 1995. What began with a congregation of forty-one has, by God’s grace, grown into a thriving ministry reaching hundreds each week and touching lives through soul winning, bus ministry, youth and children’s ministries, Spanish ministry, nursing home and jail ministries, special-needs outreach, Christian education, and many other areas of service. For more than three decades, Pastor Shook and his wife, Terri, have faithfully invested their lives in the people of Bailey’s Grove. His ministry has been marked by passionate preaching, personal soul winning, hands-on leadership, and a genuine love for people.

We are especially thankful for Pastor Shook’s influence here at TIBS. He is the pastor of four of our students: Alan and Lily Smith, Bryce Hamilton, and Kaileigh Jordan. We are grateful for the investment he and Bailey’s Grove Baptist Church have made in their lives and for the privilege of partnering with local churches as they send young people to prepare for the Lord’s work.
Pastor Shook, congratulations on 31 years of faithful pastoral ministry. TIBS is thankful for your steadfast service to Christ, your love for people, and your investment in the next generation.

Many times, when students are sent away to college, those back home are left wondering how they are doing. How is the student adjusting? Is he growing personally and spiritually? How is the Lord working in his life?

Beginning this semester, we will be implementing student prayer letters to help maintain that important connection between our students and their home churches. Every four weeks, each student will write a prayer letter to his home pastor and church, sharing how the Lord is using him, what he is learning, and how the Lord is working in his life.

Our desire is that these letters will allow pastors and churches to stay connected with their students, rejoice with them in what God is doing, and pray for them more specifically throughout their time at Texas Independent Baptist Seminary.

Thank you for investing in these men and women for faithfully praying for them as they prepare to serve the Lord. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with local churches in training the next generation of Christian servants.

Week 2 is already here and students are settling into their schedules. We are looking forward to a great year!
