Well it’s that time of year again to submit our TPWD Camera counts for our MLD-3 plan.
For the second year in a row, our numbers are inverted.
We have harvested all the tags we were issued except for one tag each year.
3:1 buck to doe ratio again this year on camera counts alone.
Here is some context …
600 acres total
400 acres in 9 year old, pine plantation.
175 acres bottomland, loaded with acorns
5+ miles of well maintained fire lines throughout the property.
6 cameras placed over year-round free-choice, protein feeders
We collect photos on 10 day data cycle with 10 minutes between photos taken, which we have 3 years of data on.
This year (2026) so far:
- approximately 10 individual does on camera
- 4 individual fawns on camera
- 0 nubbin bucks
- 0 spikes this year
- 4 individual yearlings that are 3-4 points
- 30 individual 2.5 - 8.5 year old 6 pt thru 14 pt.
Our does don’t begin showing up consistently on camera until late November to early December. But the counts are due September 4th, this year.
However, just using the 6 cameras total counts for the previous 10 day period.
Here is what we get:
400 doe
7 fawn
0 nubbin bucks
0 spikes
10 unidentified
1350 bucks
34 individual forked bucks
1006 pictures taken

Based on this specific data. What are your thoughts on what you would expect for the number of tags to be issued by # of buck & doe tags.
