OFFICER SPOTLIGHT!! Our final Officer Spotlight goes out to senior Ingrid Alcantar who serves as a Commis Chef on our 25-26 officer team. The Commis Chef is the workhorse of the kitchen. From prep to plating and garnish they do it all. this position is here to support and grind. Ingrid embodies this position whole heartedly. Her work ethic is second to none. She handles every task to the highest standard and takes initiative to get things done. She’s a fantastic team player and would be an asset to any group. She also partakes in clinicals with the nursing program at LHS

OFFICER SPOTLIGHT!!
Alex Smith serves as the Apprenti Chef on the ‘25-‘26 officer team. An Apprenti Chef is an entry level chef in the kitchen brigade system. Their job is teamwork, collaboration, and honing in on skills. An Apprenti Chef is the workhorse of the kitchen handling various tasks and prep while taking in new information and practicing the craft. Alex is a fantastic team player and hard worker. He always puts the needs of the kitchen/team above his own. He is incredibly punctual and is always ready to complete the job at hand. With a subtle humor and calm demeanor he brings wonderful variety to an awesome team of officers.

OFFICER SPOTLIGHT!! Haku Wacasey serves the Commis Chef. The Commis Chef is the workhorse of the kitchen. From prep to plating and garnish they do it all. this position is here to support and grind. Haku fits this position perfectly as his work ethic and willingness to put in elbow grease is impeccable. He is also a part of the men’s swim team and the Ag meat processing program at LHS. Haku is a fantastic worker, teammate, and public speaker.

OFFICER SPOTLIGHT! Jennifer Ortiz serves as the Chef de Rang on our 25-26 culinary officer team! A Chef de rang is a key front of the house roll in fine dining restaurants. They’re responsible for sections of the dining room and giving guests polished and attentive service from start to finish. The Chef de Rang works directly under the maître d’hôtel. This position requires attention to detail, enthusiastic and professional customer service, strong dining etiquette, and the ability to solve problems on the fly. Jennifer is also involved in HOSA, Anchor Club, Interact Club, and partakes in photography for the year book. Jennifer brings high energy and a positive playful spirit to the team. Her sense of humor and contagious liveliness are a mood booster in an atmosphere that can become tense and stressful. Don’t let her playfulness fool you… she demonstrates strong focus and sustained concentration in high-pressure environments.

OFFICER SPOTLIGHT! Ben Sartor serves as the Sous Chef for the 25-26 culinary officer team. Sous chef is second-in-command in a professional kitchen working directly under the executive chef. They play an essential in keeping operations running smoothly, consistently, and efficiently. Ben also serves as the social media content lead on the culinary officer team. He is involved in FFA floral design alongside Culinary. Ben is always up for a challenge and handles stress with grace. He is a fantastic teammate to anyone he works with and demonstrates fantastic leadership. Leading by example is this young names speciality!

OFFICER SPOTLIGHT! Sophie Golden serves as the Chef De Partie on the 25-26 culinary officer team. The Chef de Partie works as the “station chef” managing specific sections of the professional kitchen. This role is a key part to the kitchen brigade system, and serves as an important step between line cooks and the sous chef. This role overseas every kitchen station, ensuring that dishes are prepared correctly, efficiently, and meet quality standards. This position is fast paced, and physically demanding which Sophie handles tremendously. Her multitasking skills and attention to detail play a large part in her success. Sophie also holds a place on the women’s golf team and competes in art competitions. She is a wonderful team player and is always eager to finish a task to the best of her abilities.
