There is no such thing as one single teacher who can teach a student everything they need to become a professional ballet dancer. Yes, consistency is crucial in the beginner and early intermediate levels—consistency of technique and training goals, not necessarily consistency of the same person. No single person has all of the knowledge, communications skills, and all the right timing to train a dancer singlehandedly. Once at a solid intermediate level, dancers need exposure to new ideas, voices, and environments to reach their full potential. If any teacher tells you that they alone can train you from beginning to end and that you need to study exclusively with them–no summer intensives, no workshops, no other teachers, run the other way!
