The joy of learning starts early in our Transition to Kindergarten (TTK) program! 🌟

Today, we’re highlighting some of our early learners at Columbia Valley Gardens Elementary (CVG) as they discover what it means to be a student: learning classroom routines, building friendships, practicing social-emotional skills and developing the confidence to try new things. They’re also building early literacy skills as they learn to recognize and work with letters.

Through play, exploration and daily classroom experiences, our Transition to Kindergarten program helps our youngest learners build the skills, relationships and love of learning that will prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.

We love watching our young learners belong, believe and achieve!

Today, we celebrate Custodian & Grounds Appreciation Day and recognize the dedicated people who work every day to keep our schools and campuses clean, safe, welcoming and ready for learning, activities and events.

Their impact can be seen—and felt—across every classroom, hallway, playground, field and school.

Meet Debbie, a custodian at R.A. Long High School who has been caring for the school for an incredible 38 years. Her favorite part of the job? The kids!

Meet Brian, a member of our grounds team who has worked for Longview Public Schools since 1989, serving in a variety of roles over the years. He enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in getting Memorial Stadium and our high school athletic fields ready for game day.

Thank you to our entire custodial and grounds team for your hard work, dedication and pride in caring for our schools. We appreciate all you do for our students, staff and community!

Child Find is a process to identify and evaluate children, from birth through age 22, who may need special education or related services. It helps identify developmental delays or disabilities that may affect a child’s learning, growth, or development and determine what support or services may be helpful.

A few weeks into the school year, our classrooms are busy with learning. Here’s a look at second grade math in action at Robert Gray Elementary School.

Students are building their math skills by counting collections and playing math games—giving them opportunities to practice, have fun, and build confidence as mathematicians.
