Insect Investigators🐛🐞🐜🪲

We created our own little world of bugs through creativity, imagination, and hands-on exploration!

Our little investigators:

• Threaded to strengthen fine motor skills to create their own caterpillars

• Colored and sprayed to explore cause & effect to create their butterflies

• Molded with play-doh to encourage creativity and hand strength

• Encouraged sensory exploration while searching for ‘pretend’ worms

• Observed to build curiosity while discovering real bugs in our environment 🐞

Some were thrilled about the real bugs… and some were not quite as impressed. 😂

Cleaning up our sea animal that got stuck in the bay!! 🦀🐙🐟🧼🫧

Only snapped a picture of the kiddos coloring, but glue & sand came next to make the COOLEST sand art 🏖️🎨

Shaving cream sand castles… of course!! I love seeing how imaginative the kiddos get with this one! 💭🏰

A little messy? Yes.
A little chaotic? Absolutely.
Learning? 100%.

Because toddlers don’t need a worksheet to learn something new. They need space to explore, experiment, move, create, and get their hands dirty.

And honestly, that’s way more fun anyway. 🫧🎨☀️

One of my favorite ways we use creative expression at Shore Sprouts is painting. 🎨💛

I love watching the kiddos paint with a blank canvas and turn it into something completely their own. There are no instructions or “right” way to do it… they just let their imaginations take over, and it’s so fun to see what they come up with. Every painting is different, and that’s the best part!! 🥹
