We did it!

After a marathon session yesterday, SB26-135 officially passed at 1:20 AM and is headed to the November 2026 ballot.

CEA members across the state emailed senators and representatives, showed up in their communities, testified, rallied, shared their stories, and kept the pressure on until our elected officials ran our bill.

Now, Colorado voters will have the chance to cut the ropes holding back our schools and build the fully staffed, fully funded, fully supported public schools every student deserves.

Today, we celebrate. Tomorrow, we keep organizing.

As Teacher Appreciation Week begins, it is the perfect time to reflect on what appreciation looks like in our schools.

Educators teach, because we care deeply about our students, our colleagues, and our schools. There is immense pride in standing together to build the future our community deserves.

SVVEA *truly* appreciates each and every Educator in our district. Thank you!

What does true appreciation mean to you?

Teacher Appreciation Week begins tomorrow! Let’s show our dedicated teachers how much we appreciate them by transforming appreciation into ACTION. That means respect, fair wages, and a voice at the table when decisions about our schools and students’ futures are made.

Here are some ways to turn your APPRECIATION into ACTION:
💙 Support collective bargaining rights in your state. Educators earn more—24% more, on average—where they have strong unions and the freedom to bargain collectively.
💙 Vote for pro-public education candidates for your school board, state house, and U.S. Congress.
💙 Speak up for teachers at school board meetings. Ensure their voices and needs are heard by local leaders who decide funding, salaries, benefits, class sizes, and more.

On May Day we honor the workers and labor movement that came before us. We celebrate how they shaped their future, our present, for the better.

In 2026 we must continue this movement. Join fellow union members today to connect and learn more about the labor movement!
