Curiosity Is the Cure: When You're Stuck Waiting for a Guarantee

Let's talk about the Wiracocha.

The word comes from Quechua, and like most indigenous language, it's poetic rather than definitive. In English, when we say "this pot is blue," that's very clear — right or wrong, no room for interpretation. But indigenous language doesn't work that way. It describes function, feeling, what you get out of something, rather than pinning it down to one meaning. Cocha is specific to liquid, to water, to the feminine force — you see it in mamacocha, the mother of the waters, whether that's a lake, an ocean, a river. And Wira is the divine creator, the prime creator. So Wiracocha is the creator with the mother, the creator with the waters, with the feminine force.

There’s a particular kind of tired that has nothing to do with how much sleep you got.

It’s the exhaustion of maintaining a facade. Of showing up as the version of yourself that was built around other people’s comfort. Their expectations. Their idea of who you should be and how much space you’re allowed to take up.

Most of us built that version so gradually we didn’t even notice it happening. A little less of this. A little more of that. Until one day you look up and realize the life you’re living fits someone else’s blueprint.

Authenticity isn’t about being louder or more visible. It’s about the quiet, courageous act of stopping the performance. Letting what’s actually true about you take up its rightful space.

That’s not selfish. That’s sovereign.

The energy you spend maintaining who you’re not is energy that belongs to who you actually are.

Most of us have heard of last rites.

But death rites?

In this conversation, Stacy shares her perspective on death rites as a process of working with what may still be unresolved when someone passes—attachments, things left unsaid, family dynamics, or patterns that extend through generations.

She also raises a question many of us wrestle with after losing someone we love:

Why do we need to know what happens next?

Sometimes that search for certainty is part of how we make sense of our own grief.

Stacy’s work has led her to a different relationship with that unknown—one that leaves room for possibilities we may not fully understand.

And in her experience, the work surrounding a person’s transition can reach beyond the individual, bringing awareness and healing to the family members and generations still here.
