Systema Colorado

09/29/2026

We'll being doing a highly unusual (even for Systema) striking practice tonight that will immediately give you more power in your punches.

I hope you make it.

Thanks, Systema.

A senior Systema instructor shares the night he walked back into a dark school — and what his instinctive response revealed about four decades of martial arts training.

We are back from summer break and open for classes today. 6pm.

See you on the mat.

"I wouldn't get anywhere near him even if all he had was a rusty butter knife."

That's not about the weapon. That's about what happens when someone spends 50 years mastering knife offense at the highest level — then uses that knowledge to build defenses no one else could see.

Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) people think he’s a Systema guy.
Russian Systema people think he’s an FMA guy.

Both camps are looking at half the picture.

Al McLuckie held Advanced Instructor rank under Grandmaster Angel Cabales and was a highly sought-after teacher before most Systema students had heard of Vladimir Vasiliev.

He has also trained under Vladimir since 1998 — and Vladimir has personally recommended him,"“I do know Al McLuckie very well. In my opinion, he was very experienced in martial arts to start with, and now he is very competent in the Russian system. Really skillful in training and very qualified to teach it. I can also say that he is very solid and pleasant as a person. If you get the chance to train with him, I would highly recommend that.”

He didn’t blend two systems. He went to the highest levels of both — because each one complements each other to create the highest-level practitioners, and he brings that to all of his students, regardless of their training background.

That’s what makes May 30th different from any seminar you’ve attended.

Sad, but to be expected

Because apparently just buying a Tapout shirt was too subtle.

Your knife defense was built for an attacker who is cooperating with you.

One committed stab. One line. Someone who doesn’t really know how to use a knife.

Al McLuckie is not that attacker.

He attacks with fakes, mid-motion angle changes, both hands working together, footwork that removes your positioning before you react. He maintains his balance while yours disappears. He’s hunting for your defensive moves — waiting to use them against you.

He is coming to Systema Colorado on May 30th to show you what that looks like. And what actually stops it.

50+ years in Filipino and Russian martial arts. Advanced Instructor under Grandmaster Angel Cabales. One of the first US Instructors under and recommended by our teacher, Vladimir Vasiliev.

Half-day weapons seminar. All levels welcome.
