Have you ever wondered how much a firefighter’s gear really weighs? Curious why the SWAT team responds to some incidents but not others? Or why do firefighters sometimes take the fire engine to the grocery store?

What about the busiest day of the week for public safety—do you know what it is?

Longmont Public Safety’s Citizen Academy answers these questions and many more. This unique behind-the-scenes experience gives participants an inside look at the people, equipment, and decision-making that keeps our community safe.

Through engaging classroom presentations, open discussions, and interactive learning opportunities, you'll gain firsthand insight into police, fire, and emergency services operations. The academy also includes a hands-on Public Safety Day at the Fire Training Center—an experience you won’t soon forget.

You must be able to attend all four dates to participate, 6pm-8:30pm

Wed., Sept 2 - Public Safety Chief and staff;
Wed., Sept 9 - Police Services;
Wed., Sept 16 - Fire Services;
Wed., Sept 23 - Collaborative Services;

Sept 28 - Field Day with Police and Fire at the Fire Training Center
