We went outside to measure the width of the building, the sidewalk, and the roads. We used a scale factor of 10 ft: 1 inch to scale the intersection down to the paper. Map making is an absolute hit with kids and is a great way to teach multiple lessons in one day. Try it with your child at home and frame the result near the entrance of your home 😏.

Students learned about self portraits, grids and real life applications for upscaling. They studied American artist , a photorealist artist who created huge grid portraits after he became paralyzed. Students had to enlarge their photo with the grid to create a larger self portrait. Great job everyone!

Our students take a deep dive into Impressionism. After learning the characteristics of impressionist paintings, historical events, and famous artists of the time, we created our own impressionist pieces. Each piece”painting” used oil pastels on watercolor paper. C’est Magnifique!

2 days away from the students is too long 😭. Especially when we’re memorizing the states and capitals using funny accents… “Montttt-pelierrrr” < this one is spoken using the accent of a pompous British💂🏻♂️ bureaucrat with an annoying knack for semantics and an unmatched detestation of circumlocution🧐. Taught one time in a funny accent… full retention over a 2 month span with no revisiting😱. Being silly in class may have its perks! 😅
