On August 19th the East Brunswick Education Association was proud to sponsor our new member orientation and luncheon. We welcomed over 30 new members to our association. A huge thank you to all our EBEA leaders who assisted with this event and to our membership chair, Terri Kerschner, who delivered an excellent workshop. Thank you to our office manager, Janine Mirenna, who ensured every detail was PERFECT! A shout out to NJEA Consultant, Nicole Delpopolo (Nicole Elizabeth), who explained the importance of membership in the New Jersey Education Association. Thank you to Middlesex County Education Association, Lois Yukna, who welcomed our newest members to the county association. Thanks to Greg Longo from Prudential Disability Insurance who educated our members on the importance of private disability plans since public employers are NOT covered by the State. It was an amazing event and we warmly welcome our newest members!

Another proud moment for our East Brunswick Education Association education support professionals (ESPs) as this fine group attended the ESP Summer Tour Powerfest on July 20, 2026 sponsored by the Middlesex County Education Association. Our ESP leaders were provided with information regarding the ESP bill of rights was shared, fair compensation, recognition and respect, safety and healthy work environment, affordable health care, privatization warning signs, protecting ESP jobs, building community connections, and more. Thank you to our ESP leaders for taking time for continual professional development and unionism over the Summer break! As always

On May 14, 2026 the East Brunswick Education Association celebrated our 60th anniversary - orchids and diamonds! Over 100 EBEA leaders, current and past, gathered together to celebrate "How far we have come"! New Jersey Education Association Consultant, Chris Hines provided an informative workshop on our most recent accomplishments and the issues we still face! Our guests enjoyed a game were we looked back to our first bargaining contract from 1969-70 to learn most of our vehicle drivers drove station wagons to transport students, female coaches had their own guide and it was $1400 less than male coaches, and the salary difference between a teacher on the first step of the BA guide and an instructional assistant on the first step was a little over $2000. We will need the advocacy of all our members in the months to come to advocate for better school funding, Healthcare reform, tier one for everyone, and more. A huge shout out to all our EBEA leaders for their daily advocacy of our members. Special thanks to our EBEA office manager, Janine Mirenna, for ensuring every beautiful detail of the night was perfect!

Wow, just wow! Our Township of East Brunswick Parks and Recreation staff knocked it out of the ball park, once again! Mother's Day Brunch at the East Brunswick Ice Arena was an amazing hit! Brunch, braclet making, card making, tissue flower vase making, and of course...ice skating! Thank you Marissa, Caitlin, and Nicole for an amazing day celebrating "Mother's Day "!
