About the Job?

The Taco Bell Food Innovation Team (FIT) Team is seeking the most capable and inspiring talent. We need the hungriest individuals who can contribute their unique personalities, talents, and perspectives to bring Más Flavor to our organization. The intern projects and day-to-day job duties will be in support of our Quality Assurance Supply Chain team. We are looking for an Intern who has a scientific background with passion for and is in pursuit of the QA arena. In return, you will gain valuable, practical laboratory and QA experience from a leading, highly relevant brand.

The Day-to-Day:

• Support the Quality Assurance team in the day-to-day operations of the lab
• Coordinating, Communicating, and executing product cuttings for all commodities
• Close collaboration and communication with the QA team
• Pull data from databases that hold QA and Food Safety metrics
• Provide periodic reports or summaries to Quality Assurance management/leadership
• Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
• Support billing of QA projects and audits
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Organoleptic testing of all ingredients

Is This You?

• A passion for Taco Bell and a passion to pursue the QA arena
• Currently enrolled in a higher education institution pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferably in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or a recent college graduate
• Strong verbal, analytical and written communication skills as well as interpersonal and organization skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Working knowledge of the entire Microsoft Office Suite
• Prioritizes work, demonstrated problem-solving ability, strong detail orientation, and managing information

The Essie Elliott Scholarship is open to any FCS full-time undergraduate student at a 4-year institution in the LA area, with a major in Family and Consumer Sciences. Applications are due no later than March 17th, 2023. See the first page of the above flyer for additional information!

The Graduate Fellowship in Family and Consumer Sciences is open to professionals in Family and Consumer Sciences who are currently active members of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the California Association of Family and Consumer Sciences who either reside or are enrolled in a program in the LA District area. Graduate students who will be or are enrolled in graduate-level courses either full-time or part-time in an accredited graduate program in Family and Consumer Sciences, Home Economics, or a related field. Check out this newly announced SCIFTS scholarship: The PHIL BATES SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS for 2023-2024 Academic Year.

Application deadline is: Friday, May 6, 2023

The awards will provide financial assistance to High School, Undergraduate and Graduate Students planning to or currently attending both IFT and non-IFT approved programs. Minimum $1000 grants will be awarded to qualified students who are planning to or are currently working toward a degree in food technology, food science, nutrition, Culinology", or a closely related field.

Description:
The master of science degree in agriculture with the subplan in nutrition and food science offers interdisciplinary, in-depth study of theories, principles, and applications in the fields of nutrition or food science and technology. Culminating experiences for both emphases include a thesis. Students will acquire skills to pursue careers in teaching, research, or industry. Learning experiences include lectures, discussions, laboratory work, evaluation of scientific literature, and independent research.

California Dairy Innovation Center - Internships 2022 - 2023

CDIC offers internships throughout the year to California-based students affiliated with collaborating institutions. What they offer:

Laboratory Technician Internship Opportunity with Green Boy Group!

Green Boy Group is excited to be hiring a Lab Tech Intern for their plant protein innovation laboratory in Downtown Los Angeles. The Lab Tech Intern will perform routine lab duties, including but not limited to:

• Calibrating equipment (i.e. pH meter, Brix etc.)

• Maintaining a clean and safe lab environment

• Performing assigned daily tasks

• Testing protein functionalities (i.e. solubility, water/oil holding capacity, gelling, emulsifying, foaming etc.)
• Assisting lead scientist in R&D and sensory analysis for raw materials and finished products

• Conducting one research project per week to lead to a better understanding and improvements in our proteins' functions and synergy with other ingredients

The competition seeks the next new innovative dairy product, and the theme
for 2023 is Innovative Dairy-Based Products for Calming. A total of $16,000 is awarded to the top 3 teams. Make sure to read full competition rules and

Who can enter:
Undergraduate and graduate students in the United States are eligible to compete by developing Innovative Dairy-Based Products for Calming.
