High-quality teachers start with high-quality preparation.🍎

Thank you for your support! ❤️

Join us at 1 p.m. CT on October 9 for our first webinar that dives into the evolving landscape of teacher preparation! Learn from experts in the field to understand how teacher residencies and teacher registered apprenticeships align to support the same mission: recruiting and preparing educators for classrooms across the nation. Inspired by NCTR’s report, Teacher Residencies as the Foundation of Teacher Registered Apprenticeship Programs (https://bit.ly/4lfnKgc), this session will:

✅ Explore the similarities and differences between teacher residencies and teacher registered apprenticeships.
✅ Highlight evidence-based practices from teacher residency models—such as partnership alignment, centering the resident experience, and financial supports—that can strengthen apprenticeship programs.
✅ Share practices that state leaders, EPPs, or school districts can employ to invest in robust on-the-job training.

Rolled up my sleeves with fellow City of Long Beach Equity and Human Relations Commisioners for our retreat to discuss community engagement strategies for gathering input and identify needs. 🏙️

Though our charge as EHR Commissioners is more challenging in our current climate, it’s more important than ever to stand firm on our City’s values of accountability, equity, impartiality, diversity, transparency, and integrity. ⚖️

Grateful to serve with colleagues who inspire and support social justice and equity in Long Beach while fostering mutual understanding and respect for all. ❤️

It was a pleasure moderating a panel on recruiting and retaining an educator workforce for the Illinois Legislators Retreat.

Informed by my work at the National Center for Teacher Residencies, shared my expertise on teacher residencies and apprenticeships as models for supportive pathways into the field.

Much gratitude to Superintendent Jennifer Garrison and Clarissa Williams from Teach Plus Illinois for their sage advice on reducing barriers into the profession.

Appreciation also goes to The Hunt Institute for their warm invitation to .

Congrats to the Hunt team on a successful convening of legislators and resource experts committed to high-quality education!

as always, Dr. .ladsonbillings dropped some knowledge with a side of humor at the national . 👩🏾‍🏫

some gems from her keynote, Residencies as Reset: Rethinking Teacher Preparation 💎:

“you can’t change practice until you change theory.”

“pilots don’t tolerate bad apples in their profession. we can’t have bad apples in the teaching profession either.”

“here’s where residencies come in — relationships matter because they build relational trust.”

“learning must be a constant in our profession and let time be the variable, not the other way around.”

indeed, its time for a Reset. thank you GLB for your wisdom and inspiration to spark change to revolutionize how we prepare teachers. 💥
