“At first the idea of obtaining a master’s degree seemed out of my reach; however, I thank God for the opportunity given to me. I also want to thank my father and mother, Seymour and Karen Fisher and my aunt and uncle, Bridget and Errol Brandford for their support as well.

I got to experience the thrill of camping, the merits of teamwork and the power of GIS in solving problems. In the future I would like to apply what I have learned in the field of Disaster Management” (Jonathan Fisher, MSGISci)

“My best moment as a student in geography is when I worked with a team over the past few months to build a fire model that will be completed this upcoming summer for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy. This will give people awareness on which parts of the land have a higher risk of a fire hazard occurring. I joined this field because I wanted to pursue a path in which I could give back to my community. So, after graduating from the MS in GIS at CSULB, I plan to continue my education to pursue a career within disaster management” (Jason Granados, MSGISci)

"After completing the Post-Baccalaureate certificate and Master of Science program in GIS, I will be pursuing a career utilizing GIS in Fire Science / Emergency Management. My goal is that the work I do becomes an asset to my community, and the CSULB GIS department was instrumental in guiding me along this path.

I would like to thank my wife: Angela LoBue for being the driving force behind this all, my father: John Lujan for his unwavering support, my mother: Leilani LoBue for always believing in me & my late Grandmother: Judith Suan for being my inspiration by getting her masters at 50 while legally blind" (Jordan LoBue, MSGISci)

APPLY BEFORE JUNE 1st! The CSU system has moved all fall 2020 instruction to online-only delivery. The MSGISci program has decided to commit to a hybrid model for Spring and Summer 2021. This will facilitate online learning for those requiring it for the full duration of the degree program, while retaining aspects of face-to-face instruction, as permitted, to support the bonding and networking inherent in a cohort-based model.
