Newcomb’s very own, Ms. Keeton, was 1 of 13 California teachers honored by Disney Imagination Campus in a cavalcade through Disneyland Park. 100 teachers from 39 states were selected from more than 7,900 written applications. She was selected based on her innovation and creativity in the classroom. The teachers were treated to behind the scenes experiences, educational workshops, special entertainment, and sessions led by Disney leaders. We applaud Ms. Keeton for her inspiration and dedication to all our Spartans and the Newcomb community. Congratulations Ms. Keeton!

This is your last opportunity to help support and fund Science, Music and Computer Labs by joining this year's golf tournament on May 22nd at Old Ranch Country Club. We still have room for golfers. We have the grooviest principal in town. He oozes Spartan spirit and style with all his far out suits and costumes that bring smiles to all our students. He shows up and leads our school with energy and a positive spirit. Principal Thompson is no bummer. He’s totally rad.

We appreciate our teachers this week and all throughout the year. Our Newcomb Academy teachers are dedicated, inspiring, and they make learning fun! We can’t wait to spoil them all week. Check out all the creative doors our volunteer room parents organized.

Big shout out to our amazing Newcomb community member, Olga. She pitched in to bring some beauty to the Kindness Garden. Kindness and stepping up is what our Spartan Family is all about. We appreciate you Olga!

Our Spartans have been rehearsing and rehearsing some more. They finally get to show off all their hard work on Sunday at 2 and 4PM in the beautiful Ernest Borgnine Theater. Congratulations to 2nd grade parent volunteer, Steven Thai. He was entered into a raffle for 2 tickets to Disney On Ice for helping out with the Multicultural Fair. Volunteers make it all happen and we’re grateful for community members like Mr. Thai. Our final PTSA meeting is on May 30th. It’s open to everyone and there will be snacks!

MULTICULTURAL FAIR AND STEAM EVENT
Your flight is scheduled to depart NAX (Newcomb Academy International Airport) TOMORROW from 4-7pm. We have fun, food, vendors, and performers all lined up-including Special Guest, DJ Aye Jaye.
You still have time to purchase your presale wristbands after school. It includes activity/game booths, VR Experience, inflatables, and face paint. Prices increase on Saturday. The 2023 Black History Month Theme is “Black Resistance” and describes an opposition to historically oppressive rhetoric and systemic injustice. Black History Month reminds us that resistance is something that we can all practice to create a future that is bright for all people.

Wow!! The Run Like It's Recess committee is blown away by the Newcomb family support this year!! We have over 400 community runners signed up, including our own 140 students coming out to run their little hearts out Sunday.

The teacher with the most student runners will receive a $50 American Express Gift Card and a PE day with OHANA KID FIT.

So far, the leading classes are:
First Place: Mrs. Marshall (TK) with 19 students
Second Place: Ms Dina (5th grade) with 13
Third Place: Mrs. Spaseff (K) with 12
Fourth Place: Ware-Domanico (1st grade), Bell (5th grade), Romero (2nd grade), McDougle (2nd grade) and Carter (4th grade), with 11 students each!

This race is for all ages, levels and abilities. There will be a pancake breakfast provided by John's, along with music, vendors, activities and medals.
