Service Learning students in Dr. Tina Chanthapan’s JOUR 471: Public Relations (PR), Management & Campaigns (Spring 2026) partnered with City Fabrick to gain hands on experience creating and pitching campaigns by forming PR firms. Each team conducted in-depth research while collaborating with City Fabrick staff, Baktaash & Cassidy, to align with organizational goals and create a strategic, research-driven campaign to enhance visibility and community impact. Equipped with printed material mock ups, stickers, posters, and proposal booklets, they pitched each campaign where “Emerald Agency” was selected by City Fabrick for implementation and alignment. Fantastic work this semester!

Our 2025-2026 Student Assistants are an integral part of the CCE. They assist us in preparation for events, answering student questions in person and online, and bringing a sense of community to our space. We are always lucky to have them for one academic year, but the majority of our students stay with us until they graduate and we are so grateful for that. Join us in wishing them all a safe and enjoyable summer whether they’ll be joining us next year or beginning their next endeavor post CSULB! 🥳

Service Learning student, Cassandra Rivera, shared a glimpse into their experience working with the Woman's Club of Bellflower. This semester, students raised awareness for the "Pinwheel for Prevention Project" while gaining experience in the planning and ex*****on of a community initiative from goal setting, logistical coordination, and collaboration with local schools and organizations such as the Olive Crest Foundation. This culminated in the creation of resource guides & posters to focus on child abuse prevention, and pinwheel decorating activities with children at Olive Crest which were then planted in public spaces! In the Woman's Club of Bellflower, students are integrated into the club by participating in club meetings while also supporting initiatives for youth & foster youth such as a fashion show and a scholarship review committee. We're proud of CSULB Service Learning students for their dedication to the wellness and resources for K-12 children!

Today, we’re celebrating our Administrative Coordinator, Isabelle Garcia, someone who is truly at the heart of the Center for Community Engagement.
Isabelle’s work goes far beyond logistics. She is a connector, a problem-solver, and a steady presence who helps bring our programs, events, and partnerships to life. Whether she’s supporting students, coordinating with faculty, or making sure every detail is in place, she does it with care, intention, and a deep sense of responsibility to our mission.
Many of the experiences our students and partners value most are made possible because of Isabelle’s dedication and behind-the-scenes work.
We are so grateful for everything she brings to our team and the way she helps us build stronger connections between campus and community.
