🇫🇷 Parisian Gem: Odette Paris in the Latin Quarter (76 Rue Galande - 75005) + guide to Latin Quarter Unique places
Pretty and vintage, it’s streets like this that make Paris so pretty and unique. It’s along this cute road that you’ll see Odette Paris, a pretty café in the very midst of the action where you’ll find the best choux pastry in Paris.
Located just behind the iconic bookstore of Shakespeare and Co., you’ll find a little-cobbled lane that many people miss in lieu of a more iconic walk down the Seine. However, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t miss out on this iconic Parisian street while in the French capital…
Unique Places near Odette Paris
Due to Odette’s prime location in the heart of the historic Latin Quarter (named for students of the nearby Sorbonne University in the Middle Ages who solely conversed in Latin), it’s close to plenty of sites of interest dotted over the Parisian landscape. Nearby, you’ll find…
🇫🇷 The oldest tree in Paris: This tree is over 400 years old! The tree itself is located in a pretty green space which is perfect for a Parisian picnic overlooking Notre Dame!
🇫🇷 St Julien le Pauvre: An ancient church that few wander into, the ecclesiastical building is one of the oldest places of worship in Paris and is situated right next to Odette Paris. The adjacent square of René Viviani was once used as a 6th Century cemetery.
🇫🇷 The Abbey Bookshop: A firm favorite of anglophones, and a store that should be equally famous as its nearby iconic neighbor, Shakespeare and Co is The Abbey Bookshop.
🇫🇷 Collège des Bernardins: This ancient set of buildings was first built to house ecclesiastical members who attended the nearby Sorbonne University. Today, the College functions as a cultural hub, putting on lectures and talks on all manner of philosophy and other humanities of interest.

🇫🇷 Parisian Hidden Gem: Art Nouveau
Restaurant “The Beefbar”, opened in 2018 in the Langham Hotel
Paris, France
🌹 Located in what used to be ‘La Fermette Marbeuf’ – the atrium dining room of the old Hotel Langham on 5 Rue Marbeuf in Paris’ 8th arrondissement – it boasts a stunning interior recently restored (and modified) by Humbert & Poyet. Its beautiful bones were first revealed in 1898 by the eminent architect/decorist Emil Hurtré, while the rich, colourful Art Nouveau wall panels were painted by a young Jules Wielhorski (1875-1951).
🌹 Today, as we can see in these images, it looks like something out of a dream — fresh yet frozen in time. Its original style has been remarried to more modern furnishings and finishings, and its purpose – an elaborate, escapist dining hall dedicated to the enjoyment of meat – doesn’t feel discordant in the least. Take a look… and learn French with Miss Valerie. 💋
