On September 11, 2001, I was just 19 years old, sitting in my college dorm in Brooklyn and looking toward the Brooklyn Bridge out my window. I was attending Pace University, studying for my psychology degree.

At first, I truly thought it was an accident. I was so young, so naïve, and completely unprepared for what was unfolding before my eyes. There were sirens everywhere, smoke filling the sky, and injured people being brought into our school. I watched people run for their lives across the Brooklyn Bridge—frightened, covered in dust, and desperately trying to get home to the people they loved.

Then came the silence. New York, a city that was always filled with noise and life, suddenly felt painfully quiet.

In many ways, it hurts more now than it did then. At 19, I couldn’t fully understand the depth of the loss or how that day would remain with all of us forever. Now, I think about every life taken, every family forever changed, every first responder who ran toward danger, and everyone who witnessed the unimaginable from near or far.

September 11 reminds us how quickly life can change. Slow down. Love your people deeply. Treat others with kindness and respect. Appreciate the ordinary moments, because they are often the most precious ones of all.

My beautiful Beach Friends team — more than just an incredible staff, you have truly become my friends and family. I am so grateful for the love, patience, kindness, and care you give our children every single day. Each of you brings something special to our school, and together we have created such a warm, nurturing place where children feel safe, loved, and excited to learn.

Thank you for always supporting one another, working so hard, and putting your hearts into everything you do. Beach Friends would not be the same without each and every one of you. I am beyond proud of this amazing team and so lucky to work alongside such beautiful, loving, and caring women. I love and appreciate you all more than you know! ❤️
