The MESA Idea Accelerator project is an 8-week long online course that will engage students in developing solutions to societal problems using a human centered design process. The course culminates with a pitch presentation that will be judged by industry members. Through this course we want to develop and inspire MESA students to be visionary entrepreneurs. Comet is an all-in-one task manager that helps students choose their major, find the RIGHT college(s), and keep track of their college apps. Naval Horizons introduces students to cutting-edge Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) topics that impact the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps – to include autonomy, oceanography, cybersecurity, undersea medicine, and more. We invite students to learn about Naval STEM challenges and our scientists and engineers through this video series. Aerospace Academy is a free summer academic experience, held July 12–July 22, 2021. Participants will complete activities and solve educational prompts that relate to real-world technical problems. During the Academy, participants will be provided a mentor as well as opportunities to meet with STEM professionals and observe the groups working to achieve mission success. To apply for Aerospace Academy, the applicant must be a first-generation college student and meet other criteria outlined in the application.

The MESA IDEA Accelerator project aims to provide training to MESA’s 4-year university students in the tech startup accelerator process to build their entrepreneurship skills. Throughout its history, while MESA has prepared its post-secondary students to enter the STEM workforce as entry-level engineers and scientists, the program has not provided entrepreneurship training or meaningful exposure to the world of tech startups.

Free RePicture STEM Exploration Course

Join other college students interested in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM), recent STEM graduates, and exceptionally motivated high school students for a fun and educational course this summer. Not only open for STEM students, but also for non-STEM students to open your perspective to STEM.

The 6-week course will meet in June and July. Sessions will be live and recorded to fit your schedule. The hours are flexible and students will typically spend 8-15 hours per week in webinars, group activities, and assignments. Join one career exploration track for all 6 weeks, or explore different options.

Ocean Conservation Leaders is a virtual leadership program for high school students to gather and build a community around their passion for marine science. There is a membership fee of $75, due upon acceptance into the program. Scholarships are available.

Participants will meet weekly on Tuesdays from 4-5:30pm PT to connect on issues. Participants will be required to spend additional time on resource readings, forums, feedback or surveys. Through participation, youth will build a community and national network of ocean enthusiasts and conservationists and get career development and resume building opportunities.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and close May 2 for our summer session which runs from June 1-August 17.
