Lakewood Budo Kai will be doing a fundraiser on Wednesday May 21st to raise money for our 50th anniversary. It is a few years away, but we are already in the beginning planning stages and looking to start raising money to help pay for the event. Attached is the flyer about the event.

For those who may be interested, the 20th Annual Sumo Open will be at the Long Beach State Pyramid the weekend of April 25th (Saturday) 2020. Kind of neat to see at least once!

Would like to give a huge congratulations to Nolan, Jason and Bill who were promoted to the rank of Shodan over the weekend in Tucson. I understand the promotion ceremony was a very memorable event and the weekend overall was excellent.

For those that live in the Long Beach/Orange County area. This is a blast from the past. I remember buying a number of items from them. Too bad they are a thing of the past, closed down many years ago. Interesting/nice that Phil Hall's Martial Arts Supplies had a book marker card. I don't think some people would actually know what that is!

Some shots at the Nissei Week Budo Tournament - Long Beach State Pyramid 2019. This year the Karate Kumite / Kata area had Zebra mats allowing low leg sweeps and takedowns during the Kumite competition. It is great to see students bringing their best!
