Which apple tastes best? The preschoolers know! They did apple tasting to find their favorite apple. 🍎🍏 They also are hard at work practicing with scissors. ✂️ And Webby Dance is a favorite extra-curricular on Fridays!

And they’re off! Our 5th grade class is headed to AstroCamp! Earlier this week, in anticipation of camp, they had a tasty lesson on the phases of the moon. 🌕🌗🌑

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month.
We are blessed at Bethany Lutheran School to have the Student Success Program - for 20 years Mrs. Moorman and her staff have been making a difference in literacy intervention for children with dyslexia and other learning differences. The SSP Program provides early screening, identification, support, and one-on-one evidence-based reading and spelling instruction.
Each Monday in October we will be highlighting both the Student Success Program at Bethany Lutheran, and sharing about Dyslexia. Follow along!

Our preschoolers have been off to a fantastic start this year! Learning alongside their friends and understanding the daily routines - these little ones are poised to grow!

And they’re off! ⛴️ The 7th grade class is making their way to the Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) for a week of fun and exploration. We wish this class a wonderful week ahead! This trip stands out as a core memory to nearly all of our graduates.

We are thankful for our 8th graders! They’ve chosen their class verse for the year; 2 Corinthians 8:9 “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.”

Join us as at our Okto-bear-fest celebration on Sunday afternoon October 29th.

Activities include our Trunk or Treat (*admission to Trunk or Treat = 1 bag of candy per family & one can of food), a traditional German feast with all the trimmings (order food/drink below), we will also be collecting canned food to support the hungry in our community. A day of live entertainment, good food, plenty of fun and fellowship with the entire Bethany family.

Today our faculty and staff came together for lunch, fellowship, a cross cultural ministries presentation by Rev Hanna of Salam Ministries, and worship ✝️ We are blessed to be the branches connected to the Vine and are ready for the new school year to begin!

Family visits are offered on Wednesday, August 23 at 6:30 PM, as well as Sunday, August 27 at 3:00 PM and/or 4:00 PM. (And yes, sorbets are back!!!)
Come and see your child's classroom, get to know their teacher and hear how the class will operate in the year ahead. This is an incredibly important step in our education journey together, so we hope you’ll make it a priority in your very busy schedule. We will start on time and have lots of info to share, so please be prompt!

Our 2023-24 School Theme is "Connected" with John 15:5 serving as our theme verse. "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

Join us for our annual bonfire at Bolsa Chica State Beach hosted by the PTL! We love kicking off the year together around the fire pit, enjoying s'mores. Come hang out with Bethany teachers and families.

Yesterday many of our new Kindergarten families met up for a park play date! 💙💛 We can’t wait for them to be Bethany Bears!

Our K-8 chapel offerings from May and June, along with a Middle School $2 challenge, were designated to Free Wheelchair Mission - a humanitarian organization that designs and manufactures cost-efficient, durable wheelchairs for individuals living with disabilities in developing countries.

Join us this Saturday, July 29 at First Lutheran Church/The Gathering for an organ recital featuring organists Robert Bottoms and Noah Freeman, playing the mighty Zimmer tracker organ. Recital will begin at 3:00 pm and last approximately 1 hour. Original works of J.S. Bach, Healey Willan, and others will be performed.

Admission is free. A free-will offering will be collected to support the Bethany Music Ministry Scholarship Fund.

Our Spring Track & Field sports teams had great success in their two meets and brought home a number of new personal bests and top-finish ribbons. Great job, Bethany Bears!

Our Kindergarteners have a bright future! We loved their songs, slide show, and future career dreams shared at their June graduation ceremony.

For May/June, we recognized students who demonstrated artistry:

What do you do when you've already graduated but love seeing your friends? You go back to Kindergarten together! The final week of school offered our 8th graders a number of special activities together.

Our final Monday of school was Fun Day! Students enjoyed bouncers, carnival games, boba tea and more! Each class chose a color to wear for some added school spirit.

A big 'Thank You' to our PTL for the new Snow Cone machine they purchased for the school this past spring. Sweet treats for our classes are that much easier now!

A very special field trip in May was when our 1st graders traveled to Hephatha Lutheran School in Anaheim Hills to meet their pen-pals! Our students enjoyed a tour of the school, playtime at a local park and lunch together with their new friends.
