Joanna Malfatti is currently accepting students of all ages and abilities for private drumset and/or hand drum lessons. Joanna has over 18 years of teaching experience in both private and classroom settings. She has an MFA in music from California Institute of the Arts where she was immersed in a variety of musical styles including rock, R&B, jazz, West African and Afro-Cuban music. Joanna provid

es a fun, positive learning environment while also challenging students to reach his/her potential. Lessons are tailored to fit each student’s individual needs and goals. Additionally, students gain skills that reach beyond drumming, such as self- confidence, mindfulness, focus, how to set and attain goals, and how to overcome negative thinking/behavior that impedes on one’s success. Lesson curriculum for drumset lessons include: Reading music (for both snare drum and drumset), rudiments/rolls, development of coordination, technique, playing along to music including understanding song structure/form, time keeping in various musical styles such as rock, funk, jazz, etc., drum fills, soloing, creative development, listening skills.
