Last week Direcor Kathyy Battee-Freeman attended a Circle Of Change Leadership Conference master class. The recruiters and career professionals had some great tips for job seekers. The key things recruiters want to know are:

1. How are you using this time to learn new skills?
2. How are you staying relevant in your field & becoming a subject matter expert?
3. How are you able to navigate the new normal and adapt to a changing environment during COVID-19?
4. How have you been developing your mind, body, and soul?
5. How are you staying physically active daily and what has this changed for you?
6. How did you leverage social media during this time?

Thank you University of Massachusetts Dartmouth!

For one month, my incredible speaking partner, Tish Norman, M.Ed ☯️ Keynote Speaker, Greek University and I had the amazing opportunity to conduct five presentations for students over four weeks.

The journey began with an interactive leadership training with Orientation Leaders followed by four amazing programs over a three-week span for new students focused on relationship building, cultural competence, leadership, social and emotional learning, and creating an inclusive winning culture where everyone is empowered for collegiate success!

The leadership team that we got to work with is incredible. Shout out to Savannah and Shelly for being incredible host and leaders over the program. You made our job so pleasant and fun!

And lastly, shout out to all students we had the chance to meet and empower for success. Literally, over one month, we connected with about 1,300 new students!

Powerful Story from First Gen Student!
The last day of the 2023 First Generation Student Career Conference was special because my leadership team and I not only were able to give out $2,000.00 in scholarships to deserving first generation students, but Lizza Monet Morales delivered a powerful keynote presentation where she featured William Toro, a former student who attended the 2022 Circle of Change Leadership Experience in Los Angeles, California.
During this closing keynote presentation, William shared an amazing story about how he met Lizza at the conference and would later cross paths with her again at the Grammy Awards when he decided to fly across the country to volunteer for the event.
From there, William talked about how he had an amazing experience at the Grammy's because introduced him to lots of people, empowered him for success, and became an amazing mentor in his life. At this point, I was in so much joy because this is the purpose of the entire conference. To see students become great while also connecting with other great people who can enable them to make their dreams a reality!
After hearing this powerful message from William, it was great to connect and learn about the impact that transpired in all of the other students and professionals that attended the event. With so much positive momentum from Miami, I am super excited to see what is going to happen in Los Angeles this November at the 2023 Circle of Change Leadership Experience. I believe that it has the potential to be the best ever!!!!

A Growth Mindset is Key To Professional Success!

Throughout my career journey, I have discovered that success is not only a process of commitment, sacrifice, positive habits, and life-long learning, but it requires resilience, confidence, perseverance, and an ability to turn bad situations into positive outcomes.

This Saturday, we are so lucky to have Monica Diaz, Cameron Wolfe, Ashaki Rucker, and Martita Mestéy - Durruthy (she/her/ella) serving as guest panelist at the 2023 First Generation Student Career Conference in Miami, Florida.

The accomplished and incredible professionals will be talking with students from 47 different colleges and universities across the country about developing the resilience to thrive and succeed within your area of expertise.

With so many challenges facing college students today as it relates to personal, collegiate, and career success, a powerful session on resilience from top tier professionals will be life changing and very impactful for all the students and professionals that are able to be part of this transformational conversation.

We are so grateful and appreciative for these amazing professional that have agreed to speak at the event. What's even better about this panel is that Monica has agreed to sign copies of her book for students as well after the panel session.

Excited about what will transpire this Saturday!

Relationships Matter!

There are numerous studies that I share with students and professionals about career success, but one study that I share very often is a study that I learned about from PayScale where they suggested that 87% of people attain jobs through some form of relationship.

In essence, the most effective that an individual becomes at building, developing, and managing positive professional relationships, the more likely that these relationships will enhance their career trajectory.

Based on this reality, I am super excited to announce that Silvana Marmolejos, Dr. Paula Hopkins, Merdochey T. LaFrance, and Michael Lay will be joining us next week at the 2023 First Generation Student Career Conference to talk with students about professional/digital branding, effective networking and relationship building skills, and specific ways that First Generation Students can begin to build the relationships and social capital that will be needed to position themselves for career success in college and beyond.

I am very grateful that each of these incredible professionals have agreed to speak next week at the 2023 First Generation Student Career Conference because the knowledge that they will share with students and professionals is so important for students/professionals everywhere as it relates to their career success.

With more than 40 colleges and universities already registered, there is still room for others to join us next week in Miami, Florida. I know that its going to be a transformational experience for everyone that is involved!

Helping First Generation Students Find The Right Career Path!

My good friend, Dr. Tierney Bates once shared with me that 50% of college students change their major in college and 73% graduate without ever attaining a job within their major.

To help first generation students from across the country find the right career path in college and position themselves for career success within that profession, we have created an incredible panel at the 2023 First Generation Student Career Conference this April to help students identify and develop the skills that are required to find the right career path and create an incredible career within that area of expertise.

We are so grateful that Clara Stroude-Vazquez, Dominique Leveille, Ph.D, LMFT, Rodney W. Jacobs, Jr., JD, MPA, MPH, and Priscilla Guasso have agreed to serve as a guest speaker/panelist for this powerful session that will be provided for hundreds of First Generation Students from across the country.

I am very confident that every First Generation Student who has the opportunity to learn, grow, and gain wisdom from these exceptional professionals will not only be greatly impacted in college and beyond, but they will attain some valuable information that will assist them in finding the right career path and positioning themselves for career success.

We are so excited and expectant of the transformation that will happen during this session next month in Miami, Florida. To learn more about this life changing experience for First Generation Students, you can visit our conference website at https://lnkd.in/g-tci-z.

In less than three weeks, hundreds of First Generation Students and Professionals will be gathering in Miami, Florida for the 3rd Annual First Generation Student Career Conference!

On Saturday, our third professional development session will be focused on helping professionals learn about the specific things that employers are searching for in student interns and graduates from accomplished professionals that are making a huge impact in South Florida.

Toni Pruitt, PHR, PRC, CSM, Ana Larrea-Albert, and Priscilla Torres, M.S. are not only amazing leaders and people, but they are exceptional professionals within their areas of expertise. She not only did an exceptional job at moderating the sessions for two days, but in between, picked up our son from school, watched him, took him to a football game, and impacted lives through the virtual space!

These amazing professionals are not only very successful within their area of expertise, but its an honor to have them take time to share with our students each year. We are so grateful for them.

Throughout the conference, these amazing people not only empower students with our customized leadership development curriculum, but they mentor, guide, and help every student maximize their experience at the Circle of Change Leadership Conference.

This weekend was super awesome, inspiring, and transformational!

Literally, hundreds of students from across the country were impacted because of the amazing speakers, panelist, and leadership coaches.

However, in order to create and execute a vision to change lives, you need a great team. And, I must say, this team of people are some of the most incredible people in the world!

Without them, there would be no Circle of Change. And, as I often say, if you can manifest your vision by yourself, it’s not big enough.

These people made the vision possible and I am so grateful for all of them. Also, shout out to Natalie Poag, Monique, and Fredenburg who played a huge role as well!

We are moving upward and onward and it’s because of these incredible people. I just want to say THANK YOU!!!

Moving forward, we are planning some other powerful initiatives that will enable students to be fully prepared to connect with companies looking to hire and employ more diverse interns and professionals within their organization/company. If this applies to you, send me a message so that I can send you more information in 2023 on how to get involved.
