Make your own fluorescent lava lamp at home! All you need is vegetable oil, water, food coloring, Alka-Seltzer, fluorescent highlighter ink, and a small UV (black) light. Watch bubbles rise and glow under the UV light while you explore the science of fluorescence and density!

Science meets forensics! Our students investigated mystery powders to identify the substance at a crime scene, then became forensic anthropologists as they dissected owl pellets to uncover skulls and bones.

Our CSI Long Beach class had a memorable experience visiting the CSULB Police Department yesterday! Students got an inside look at the important work of campus police and explored the science and investigation behind CSI.

The Science of Art group visited the Vertebrate Lab to explore the structures and functions of animals and discover the science behind how animals move!

3D model to better understand how contour lines represent the geological features and landforms of our planet.

Fun first day at science camp… one class visited the Marine and Shark Lab, while our CSI Long Beach group investigated the crime scene where Elbee was taken, and our magicians learned a trick or two about color changes and making color disappear!

Young Scientists Camp 2026 will be July 13-24 (M-F, 8:30-noon) at CSULB.
YSC is for kids entering 2nd - 9th grade.
Registration will open March 6 at 9AM.
