This Human!

Congratulations to Abigail. Earning her second straight age group national championship and Series championship.

You want to know who Abby is?: 5+ miles into Big Bear Abby comes down the mountain with a smile on her face. If you I know Big Bear Spartan, you know it takes a special person to enjoy that race. The smile wasn’t because of the four minute lead but the mindset Abby carries. She is a winner.

2023 Stats
Big Bear - 1st
Utah - 1st
New England - 1st
West Viiginia - 1st
Killington (NORAMS) - 1st
A 30 minute + marathon PR

This Human is one impressive person.

2023 National Series Rankings

Half way through the national series races and two in the top ten. Not bad since the Human Body Lab only has two athletes competing in the series races this year.

Abigail has gone two for two in the Spartan national series. This gal is like a silent assassin. She crush the will of her opposition all while keeping a smile.

is the epitome of consistency. Her ultimate race is longevity but through her hard work, success always finds her.

They did it again & .

This was an important race. They have now qualified to the world championships to defend their World Title and age group world record.

These two are great examples of perseverance. The past two training blocs have been full of bumps, barriers and road blocks. But, they did not use them excuses but realize that is life. They never asked to quit and never lowered their expectations.

I’m a proud coach

Deka Austin

It was a great .fit weekend competing next to one of my OG HBL athletes and watching my first non-team sport athlete I started coaching make it onto the podium again.

It’s not often the Human Body Lab family gets together outside of a race or event. When we do, it’s always a great time!

The workouts are fun.
The food is tasty
The conversation is refreshing.

Thanks to those that attended and we missed those that could not.

It’s race day! Let’s get it!

It’s another weekend for my humans. Sometimes we are competing all over the US. Today we are all over Southern California. Today I’ll be at La and tomorrow so cal.

First, I am a coach. I will not be competing this weekend. I have never liked competing in the same competition as my athletes.

The successes of my athletes brings me way my joy than my own successes. I always say “when succeed, I succeed.” I truly mean it.

Today I teach, tomorrow I coach!

The human body is the coolest machine on earth.

I Got go to spend the last two days running workshops for at the annual user group meeting.

I fly home tonight in time to be able to coach at the stadion in Anaheim.

Here are a couple facts:
- Endurance athletes have a higher rate of certain diseases of the heart and arrhythmias that require the need for interventions such as pace makers as they age. I predict we are going to see the same pathologies with the habitual “high intensity” athletes that choose to only live in the pain cave.

Don’t believe me? Google it.
“Potential Adverse Cardiovascular Effects From Excessive Endurance Exercise”
“Why athletes are more likely to need pacemakers in old age”

Keeping the heart healthy is a delicate balance. There is a point where to much is just that… too much. That point is different for every person.

I may be wrong on this, but I’m pretty sure keeping one’s heart healthy is pretty important 😜

I finally got to meet all the geniuses behind the fourth frontier device. What a great set of humans. Their in person customer service is as outstanding as their online customer service.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a x2 at the Annual meeting. I have been rocking the first generation for just about a year.

I cannot say enough about the fourth frontier wearable device. Calling it a heart rate monitor does not do it justice. It measures heart rate, heart rhythm, cardiac strain, body shock plus some other stuff

Heart rate is only one metric when it comes to how much intensity, load and volume the heart can handle. This thing measures it all.

Fourth Frontier has some cool updates coming soon for us coaches! I’ll share that once I get all the information.
