These are just some books I devoured in 2024 that are not totally singing related but have totally influenced my teaching this year. The Artist’s Way is a great program to follow for a recovering perfectionist (hi, it’s me 🤭) Learning about fascia gave me a new perspective on the power of posture for helping singers find more ease in their singing quicker. The Oxygen Advantage helped me consider my students breathing habits outside of singing and how that might make coordinated breathing a little more challenging. How Audio Works was a great refresher for recording techniques and acoustic science. How To Stop People Pleasing is a doozy but very very powerful, and it inspired me to have more authenticity in my relationships with students and in my personal life. The Mountain Is You is an absolute motivator of a book. And don’t read Jaws or Tongue-Tied unless you want to possibly end up with 13 appointments interviewing providers in the dental industry like my crazy ass. The SOVT book is some real voice science nerd teaching stuff that I loved learning about on a deeper level. I was always perplexed by those exercises, and I wanted a deeper understanding to make sure I am using them effectively in the studio. Have you read any of these?
