Presenting on AI Empowerment in STEM at LA STEM Symposium at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County was such a dream, for not only was the location jaw-dropping but the people in the LA STEM Collective are salt-of-the-Earth.

When the Goldhirsh Foundation provided training to their Grantees at an AI for Good Convening two months ago, I assisted Maria Dyshel in her impactful AI presentation. There, I met lovely Julie Olds, who then invited me to be a part of the LA STEM Collective, a unique collective of more than 50 STEM organizationsā€”an intersection of education, industry, and community-based organizations providing high-quality STEM learning experiences, opportunities, and resources for students in and beyond.

At their LA STEM Symposium last week, I presented on AI Empowerment in STEM: Bridging Communities for Educational Innovation. It was thrilling to share how to best leverage AI in STEM program development, curriculum design, and lesson planning using various generative AI tools like Googleā€™s Gemini, OpenAIā€™s ChatGPT, Perplexity, Khan Academyā€™s Khanmigo, and Inflection AIā€™s Pi.

I loved having the opportunity to meet incredible leaders like Milena Acosta, Ben Dickow, Dwain Wilson, Chi Ni, Madeline Stewart, Dunya Merell Djordjevic, Ann Myra Walton-Teter among others. So proud of the work they do for Los Angeles County. āœØ

Employ California proudly held ā€œWomen & AI,ā€ the inaugural summit in a visionary series designed to elevate women and underrepresented communities within the realm of generative AI in partnership with and sponsored by . šŸ¤©

This series kickstarted with an exclusive, invite-only gathering, set against the backdrop of Googleā€™s illustrious Silicon Beach Headquarters, renowned as the Spruce Goose Hangar, on Thursday, March 21 from 2-6 p.m., which is Jen GarcĆaā€™s late momma Debbieā€™s birthday. She would have been 66 this year.

Our event featured a panel with impactful world-changers like Googleā€™s Caroline Yap and Amina Al Sherif, and ā€™s very first Director of Digital Equity Rebecca F. Kauma. There was an informative demo and invaluable networking opportunities, culminating in an exclusive tour of Googleā€™s state-of-the-art facilities. It was incredible. šŸ¤Æ

This groundbreaking initiative is brought to life through a partnership with Delete the Divide and sponsored by Google, symbolizing a united front in the technological empowerment of diverse voices.

Our distinguished guest list encompassed a broad spectrum of influential figures from government, tech companies, non-profits, academia, foundations, small businesses, and social impact organizations, all converging to forge a future where AI technology is accessible and beneficial for all.

Pictures will be posted soon!

Presenting at the 49th Annual Coalition of Black Administrators Conference was a delight and deeply inspiring.

Their mission to build a strong school system dedicated to the maximum development of the potentials of all children, and communicate the educational needs of the black community to the decision makers (among other important mission statement items) is vital to our community thriving.

There was a determined energy there among the varied stakeholders from from K-12 present, energized to learn how to better support our youth with AI. Loved the opportunity to share.

So thankful to my lovely cousin Katherine for inviting her coworker to attend my presentation!!! šŸ¤© I loved hearing from her how much their coworkers admire and love my incredible cousinā€”no surprise at all, but tell me more!

Huge thank you to one of my biggest sponsors and great friend / who forwarded the call to proposals to me. DeLlora is a beautiful example of sponsorship. šŸ’
